Prije točno 32 godine, 6.svibnja 1992. u 16 sati i 43 minute u dubrovačkoj luci Gruž došlo je do jedne od najvećih pomorskih tragedija u suvremenoj Hrvatskoj: sudarili su se Jadrolinijin trajekt Ilirija i Atlasov turistički brod Aurora koji je kratko potom potonuo na dno, 20-ak metara od obale. U havariji je život izgubilo deset putnika Aurore, od kojih troje malodobne djece, a još 18 putnika s tog broda je ozlijeđeno.

Tragedija se dogodila pod još potpuno nerazjašnjenim okolnostima, a nakon više sudskih ročišta i saslušanja svjedoka s kopna i mora te vještaka, mnogi se tek sjećaju da je krivnja prema pomorskom pravu podijeljena u omjeru 70-30 posto. Po tome je, kažu stručnjaci, taj brodolom u središtu luke kuriozum i u svjetskom pomorstvu.

Već požutjeli zapisnici šturo izvješćuju da je do tragedije došlo oko 16,40 sati tijekom uplovljavanja Ilirije koja se s 96 putnika i članova posade upravo vraćala iz tada okupiranog Cavtata. Među putnicima su bili i radnici Hrvatske elektroprivrede koji su zbog radne obveze osiguravanja struje i uz oružani nadzor okupatora raditi u Hidroelektrani Plat.

Prisjećajući se te tragedije, očevici podsjećaju na veliku brzinu uplovljavanja brodova do koje je došlo iz straha da će okupatori zapucati na plovila, što se nerijetko događalo. Kapetani oba broda su, razumljivo, htjeli što prije uploviti u sigurnost luke Gruž jer je s okolnih brda prijetilo brojno topništvo Vojske SAO Istočna Hercegovina.

Na Aurori je vladalo pomalo euforično ozračje jer su Konavljani i Župljani čekali što prije vidjeti svoje najbliže koji su ih čekali u luci. Stoga su brodovi u punoj brzini uplovljavali u Gruž, ali je iznenada došlo do sudara kada je pramac značajno veće Ilirije kao skalpelom presjekao drveni trup 30 metara duge Aurore.

Nakon tog sraza Atlasovo plovilo je zastrašujuće brzo, za manje od pet minuta, potonulo na lučko dno. Vrtlog do kojeg je tom prilikom došlo povukao je u smrt još dio brodolomaca koje su, očajni zbog nemoći da im pomognu, promatrali građani s gruške rive. Jer, uz želju da čuju što je s njihovim najmilijima, mnogi su došli i da čuju ratne novosti.

Brodolomnicima su u najkraćem roku u pomoć priskočili posada i putnici s "Ilirije", građani sa svojim barkama i brodovi Hrvatske ratne mornarice te liječnici koji su vrlo brzo stigli na mjesto tragedije o kojoj je vrlo brzo čuo cijeli grad i zbog sirena koje su parale zrak ratnog Dubrovnika.

Udarac brodova bio je tako silovit da je Aurora potonula u samo dvije minute, a vrtlog je povukao u smrt deset putnika. 

U povodu tužne obljetnice danas u 16:43 u Luci Dubrovnik položit će se vijenci u more u gruškoj luci.

Prije točno 32 godine, 6.svibnja 1992. u 16 sati i 43 minute u dubrovačkoj luci Gruž došlo je do jedne od najvećih pomorskih tragedija u suvremenoj Hrvatskoj: sudarili su se Jadrolinijin trajekt Ilirija i Atlasov turistički brod Aurora koji je kratko potom potonuo na dno, 20-ak metara od obale. U havariji je život izgubilo deset putnika Aurore, od kojih troje malodobne djece, a još 18 putnika s tog broda je ozlijeđeno.

Tragedija se dogodila pod još potpuno nerazjašnjenim okolnostima, a nakon više sudskih ročišta i saslušanja svjedoka s kopna i mora te vještaka, mnogi se tek sjećaju da je krivnja prema pomorskom pravu podijeljena u omjeru 70-30 posto. Po tome je, kažu stručnjaci, taj brodolom u središtu luke kuriozum i u svjetskom pomorstvu.

Već požutjeli zapisnici šturo izvješćuju da je do tragedije došlo oko 16,40 sati tijekom uplovljavanja Ilirije koja se s 96 putnika i članova posade upravo vraćala iz tada okupiranog Cavtata. Među putnicima su bili i radnici Hrvatske elektroprivrede koji su zbog radne obveze osiguravanja struje i uz oružani nadzor okupatora raditi u Hidroelektrani Plat.

Prisjećajući se te tragedije, očevici podsjećaju na veliku brzinu uplovljavanja brodova do koje je došlo iz straha da će okupatori zapucati na plovila, što se nerijetko događalo. Kapetani oba broda su, razumljivo, htjeli što prije uploviti u sigurnost luke Gruž jer je s okolnih brda prijetilo brojno topništvo Vojske SAO Istočna Hercegovina.

Na Aurori je vladalo pomalo euforično ozračje jer su Konavljani i Župljani čekali što prije vidjeti svoje najbliže koji su ih čekali u luci. Stoga su brodovi u punoj brzini uplovljavali u Gruž, ali je iznenada došlo do sudara kada je pramac značajno veće Ilirije kao skalpelom presjekao drveni trup 30 metara duge Aurore.

Nakon tog sraza Atlasovo plovilo je zastrašujuće brzo, za manje od pet minuta, potonulo na lučko dno. Vrtlog do kojeg je tom prilikom došlo povukao je u smrt još dio brodolomaca koje su, očajni zbog nemoći da im pomognu, promatrali građani s gruške rive. Jer, uz želju da čuju što je s njihovim najmilijima, mnogi su došli i da čuju ratne novosti.

Brodolomnicima su u najkraćem roku u pomoć priskočili posada i putnici s "Ilirije", građani sa svojim barkama i brodovi Hrvatske ratne mornarice te liječnici koji su vrlo brzo stigli na mjesto tragedije o kojoj je vrlo brzo čuo cijeli grad i zbog sirena koje su parale zrak ratnog Dubrovnika.

Udarac brodova bio je tako silovit da je Aurora potonula u samo dvije minute, a vrtlog je povukao u smrt deset putnika. 

U povodu tužne obljetnice danas u 16:43 u Luci Dubrovnik položit će se vijenci u more u gruškoj luci.
