Mišo Pavičić s Instituta za oceanografiju i ribarstvo uspješno je obranio doktorat i to na temu - hlapa, jednog od velikih rakova Jadranskog mora (lat. Homarus gammarus).
Hlap je u praksi intenzivno izlovljava i postiže visoku cijenu na tržištu. Unatoč njegovoj važnosti za ribarstvo do sada nikada nije provedeno sveobuhvatno istraživanje stanja populacije hlapa u Jadranskom moru, pa je Pavičić odlučio utvrditi stanje populacije hlapa u Jadranskom i Sredozemnom moru primjenom ribarstveno-bioloških i genetičkih metoda.
Njegovo istraživanje je trajalo čak šest godina. U suradnji s ribarima sakupljani su uzorci hlapova iz cijelog Jadrana te uz pomoć kolega znanstvenika iz drugih krajeva Sredozemlja. Svoja istraživanja objavio je u prestižnim međunarodnim časopisima.
-️ U radovima je, u suradnji s kolegama znanstvenicima, po prvi put dokazao relativno nisku genetičku udaljenost populacija hlapova što znači da u Jadranu postoji jedna jedinstvena populacija s ograničenim kontaktom s ostalim populacijama hlapova u Sredozemlju.
Najveća brojnost hlapova u Jadranu zabilježena je na njegovom sjevernom dijelu gdje se nalazi i najvažnije područje mrijesta, bitno za održivost cijele jadranske populacije. Na tom području vidljiv je i porast ulova i ribolovnog napora.

Povezanost jadranske populacije uvjetovana je specifičnim oceanografskim karakteristikama i trajanjem pelagične faze ličinke, dva do četiri tjedna, kada mladi hlapovi za razliku od odraslih jedinki koji borave na dnu, plivaju morskim stupcem. Zbog toga, genetski materijal se iz sjevernog Jadrana, morskim strujama, može prenijeti na relativno velike udaljenosti, od 300 do 600 kilometara.
Čini se kako izlov, gubitak staništa i druge ljudske aktivnosti još nisu značajno utjecale na genetičku raznolikost ove vrste u Jadranu - navode iz IZOR-a.
Kada je riječ o povećanju temperature mora, odosno klimatskim promjenama, izgleda da je došlo do povećanja lovnosti hlapa najvjerojatnije kao posljedica njegove veće aktivnosti.
Ovi nalazi ukazuju na relativno zadovoljavajući trenutni status populacije hlapa u Jadranu. No bitno je napomenuti da se važeće mjere upravljanja, poput minimalnih dužina, lovostaja, puštanja ženki s jajima i dalje moraju provoditi jer doprinose dugoročnoj održivosti i isplativosti ribarskog sektora u svijetlu sve veće neizvjesnosti vezane s klimatskim promjenama, upozoravaju znanstvenici.

Mišo Pavičić s Instituta za oceanografiju i ribarstvo uspješno je obranio doktorat i to na temu - hlapa, jednog od velikih rakova Jadranskog mora (lat. Homarus gammarus).
Hlap je u praksi intenzivno izlovljava i postiže visoku cijenu na tržištu. Unatoč njegovoj važnosti za ribarstvo do sada nikada nije provedeno sveobuhvatno istraživanje stanja populacije hlapa u Jadranskom moru, pa je Pavičić odlučio utvrditi stanje populacije hlapa u Jadranskom i Sredozemnom moru primjenom ribarstveno-bioloških i genetičkih metoda.
Njegovo istraživanje je trajalo čak šest godina. U suradnji s ribarima sakupljani su uzorci hlapova iz cijelog Jadrana te uz pomoć kolega znanstvenika iz drugih krajeva Sredozemlja. Svoja istraživanja objavio je u prestižnim međunarodnim časopisima.
-️ U radovima je, u suradnji s kolegama znanstvenicima, po prvi put dokazao relativno nisku genetičku udaljenost populacija hlapova što znači da u Jadranu postoji jedna jedinstvena populacija s ograničenim kontaktom s ostalim populacijama hlapova u Sredozemlju.
Najveća brojnost hlapova u Jadranu zabilježena je na njegovom sjevernom dijelu gdje se nalazi i najvažnije područje mrijesta, bitno za održivost cijele jadranske populacije. Na tom području vidljiv je i porast ulova i ribolovnog napora.

Povezanost jadranske populacije uvjetovana je specifičnim oceanografskim karakteristikama i trajanjem pelagične faze ličinke, dva do četiri tjedna, kada mladi hlapovi za razliku od odraslih jedinki koji borave na dnu, plivaju morskim stupcem. Zbog toga, genetski materijal se iz sjevernog Jadrana, morskim strujama, može prenijeti na relativno velike udaljenosti, od 300 do 600 kilometara.
Čini se kako izlov, gubitak staništa i druge ljudske aktivnosti još nisu značajno utjecale na genetičku raznolikost ove vrste u Jadranu - navode iz IZOR-a.
Kada je riječ o povećanju temperature mora, odosno klimatskim promjenama, izgleda da je došlo do povećanja lovnosti hlapa najvjerojatnije kao posljedica njegove veće aktivnosti.
Ovi nalazi ukazuju na relativno zadovoljavajući trenutni status populacije hlapa u Jadranu. No bitno je napomenuti da se važeće mjere upravljanja, poput minimalnih dužina, lovostaja, puštanja ženki s jajima i dalje moraju provoditi jer doprinose dugoročnoj održivosti i isplativosti ribarskog sektora u svijetlu sve veće neizvjesnosti vezane s klimatskim promjenama, upozoravaju znanstvenici.
