Strastveni ribar iz orebićkih Pratnica, umirovljeni kapetan Davorin Krističević ovih je dana imao dosta rijedak i neobičan ulov.  Riječ je o zmiji zubuši dužine  225 cm, težina skoro 2 i pol kila, ulovljena mrežom nedaleko Borja na dubini od 45 metara. Davorin se sjeća skoro pa istog ulova prije 50 godina skoro na istom mjestu.

-Prema literaturi i prema narodnoj predaji jestivost varira, negdje navodi da je vrlo ukusna, negdje da se ne jede, negdje čak i da joj je krv otrovna. Uvjeren da je malo što prirodno iz mora otrovno ja sam istu probao na brodet. Evo me, još sam tu i mogu reći da je odlična i vrlo neobičnog ukusa, jedina zamjerka je pretjerani broj tankih kostiju. Zahvala gospodinu  Valteru Kožulu iz Instituta za more i priobalje iz Dubrovnika koji je u roku odmah prepoznao i determinirao ribu, ne samo da ih pozna nego ih savršeno i crta  - kazao je gospar Davor.

-Vršak repa joj je tvrd, skoro pa hrskavičast, što nije nimalo čudno kad se pomoću tog istog repa zakapa u pjeskovito dno tako da joj viri samo glava. Prilično posla i umijeća ako se zna da naraste i do 330 cm. Hrani se školjkama i crvima iz pijeska, ali kao izuzetno proždrljiva jede sve što joj se nađe u blizini, od glavonožaca do sve ribe. Zubar i zubi joj nisu nikakav problem jer ih ima i previše smještenih u nekoliko redova, tako da je skoro čitava površina usta prekrivena istima. Lustri nema, ali zato ima puno sluzi po površini tako da joj je tijelo jako klizavo, boje je od gore žućkastosmeđe sa zlatkastim odsjevima, prema repu bijelosivkaste do srebrnaste.

Po Svijetu je dosta raširena, u Mediteranu u središnjem i zapadnom dijelu, u Jadranu je malobrojna i relativno rijetka, lovi se slučajno mrežama i parangalom. Chlimatske promjene, Greta i otapanje ledenjaka je također previše ne brinu jer živi od 30 do 300 m dubine. Opisana dama je Zmija zubuša (Ophisurus serpens, L. 1758.), Mutti je zove Seeschlange, a talijanski mafijaši Serpente di mare.

Primjerak koji se čuva u Institutu za more i priobalje u Dubrovniku dug je 282 cm i koliko se zna najveći je dosad zabilježen kod nas. Prema riječima orebićkog ribara Nikše K. on je u posljednjih desetak godina na prostoru juga zmiju zubušu susreo 5-6 puta, a poznato je nešto ulova i sjevernije- napisao je na facebooku Ivica Trojanović, koji nam je ustupio fotografije.

Strastveni ribar iz orebićkih Pratnica, umirovljeni kapetan Davorin Krističević ovih je dana imao dosta rijedak i neobičan ulov.  Riječ je o zmiji zubuši dužine  225 cm, težina skoro 2 i pol kila, ulovljena mrežom nedaleko Borja na dubini od 45 metara. Davorin se sjeća skoro pa istog ulova prije 50 godina skoro na istom mjestu.

-Prema literaturi i prema narodnoj predaji jestivost varira, negdje navodi da je vrlo ukusna, negdje da se ne jede, negdje čak i da joj je krv otrovna. Uvjeren da je malo što prirodno iz mora otrovno ja sam istu probao na brodet. Evo me, još sam tu i mogu reći da je odlična i vrlo neobičnog ukusa, jedina zamjerka je pretjerani broj tankih kostiju. Zahvala gospodinu  Valteru Kožulu iz Instituta za more i priobalje iz Dubrovnika koji je u roku odmah prepoznao i determinirao ribu, ne samo da ih pozna nego ih savršeno i crta  - kazao je gospar Davor.

-Vršak repa joj je tvrd, skoro pa hrskavičast, što nije nimalo čudno kad se pomoću tog istog repa zakapa u pjeskovito dno tako da joj viri samo glava. Prilično posla i umijeća ako se zna da naraste i do 330 cm. Hrani se školjkama i crvima iz pijeska, ali kao izuzetno proždrljiva jede sve što joj se nađe u blizini, od glavonožaca do sve ribe. Zubar i zubi joj nisu nikakav problem jer ih ima i previše smještenih u nekoliko redova, tako da je skoro čitava površina usta prekrivena istima. Lustri nema, ali zato ima puno sluzi po površini tako da joj je tijelo jako klizavo, boje je od gore žućkastosmeđe sa zlatkastim odsjevima, prema repu bijelosivkaste do srebrnaste.

Po Svijetu je dosta raširena, u Mediteranu u središnjem i zapadnom dijelu, u Jadranu je malobrojna i relativno rijetka, lovi se slučajno mrežama i parangalom. Chlimatske promjene, Greta i otapanje ledenjaka je također previše ne brinu jer živi od 30 do 300 m dubine. Opisana dama je Zmija zubuša (Ophisurus serpens, L. 1758.), Mutti je zove Seeschlange, a talijanski mafijaši Serpente di mare.

Primjerak koji se čuva u Institutu za more i priobalje u Dubrovniku dug je 282 cm i koliko se zna najveći je dosad zabilježen kod nas. Prema riječima orebićkog ribara Nikše K. on je u posljednjih desetak godina na prostoru juga zmiju zubušu susreo 5-6 puta, a poznato je nešto ulova i sjevernije- napisao je na facebooku Ivica Trojanović, koji nam je ustupio fotografije.
