Ultra-desni pastor Greg Locke iz Global Vision Bible Church je bio domaćin događaja spaljivanja knjiga, ohrabrujući župljane da bace knjige kao što su "Harry Potter" i "Sumrak" u vatru kako bi osudili ono što je opisao kao "demonske" materijale. Prije toga je pozvao sljedbenike da spale "zlo smeće" kao što su sci-fi knjige za odrasle, tarot karte, "vudu lutke i kristale".

"Ponesite sve svoje stvari o Harryju Potteru. Smijte se koliko god želite mrzitelji. Nije me briga. To je 100-postotno čarobnjaštvo", napisao je Locke u objavi na Instagramu u ponedjeljak. "Sve te 'Sumrak' knjige i filmovi. Taj je nered pun uroka, demonizma, metamorfoze i okultizma."

U videu koji se prenosio uživo na Facebooku, članovi crkve bacaju knjige i druge predmete za koje se smatra da su povezani s "vještičarenjem" u masivni krijes na parkiralištu crkve u Mount Julietu, Tennesseeu. Spaljivanje je započelo oko sat vremena nakon prijenosa uživo, jer je prije toga pastor držao govor.

Ovo nije prvi put da je Locke došao na naslovnice. Korisnici su na Twitteru izrazili zabrinutost zbog događaja. Neki su povukli sličnosti između spaljivanja knjiga u Global Vision Bible Church i onih koje su držane u Njemačkoj tijekom nacističkog režima.

Lockeov događaj spaljivanja knjiga dolazi usred sve većeg nastojanja da se određene knjige zabrane iz škola. Knjige o rasizmu i seksualnosti povlače se s polica teksaških škola u rekordnom broju – većina ciljanih knjiga sadrži LGBTQ likove ili precizne opise seksa. Neke od knjiga koje nisu eksplicitne uključuju slikovnice o tamnoputim povijesnim osobama i transrodnoj djeci.

Prošlog mjeseca školski odbor u Tennesseeju izglasao je uklanjanje "Mausa", grafičkog romana o holokaustu koji je osvojio Pulitzerovu nagradu, s popisa za lektiru za osmi razred zbog vulgarnosti i golotinje.

Ultra-desni pastor Greg Locke iz Global Vision Bible Church je bio domaćin događaja spaljivanja knjiga, ohrabrujući župljane da bace knjige kao što su "Harry Potter" i "Sumrak" u vatru kako bi osudili ono što je opisao kao "demonske" materijale. Pastoru je trajno zabranjen Twitter zbog širenja dezinformacija o cjepivu protiv Covida, nakon što ga jeopisao kao "šećernu vodu" i rekao da će otjerati posjetitelje crkve ako nose maske na njegovim misama. Također je kritizirao republikanskog guvernera Tennesseeja Billa Leeja kao "kukavicu... rezanac... vaflu" jer je potpisao izvršnu naredbu koja bi omogućila Nacionalnoj gardi da pomogne preopterećenim bolnicama tijekom pandemije. Locke je tvrdio da su djeca s autizmom opsjednuta demonima, inzistirajući da ovakva medicinska dijagnoza ne postoji u Bibliji.

Korisnici su na Twitteru izrazili zabrinutost zbog događaja. Neki su povukli sličnosti između spaljivanja knjiga u Global Vision Bible Church i onih koje su držane u Njemačkoj tijekom nacističkog režima.

Lockeov događaj spaljivanja knjiga dolazi usred sve većeg nastojanja da se određene knjige zabrane iz škola. Knjige o rasizmu i seksualnosti povlače se s polica teksaških škola u rekordnom broju – većina ciljanih knjiga sadrži LGBTQ likove ili precizne opise seksa. Neke od knjiga koje nisu eksplicitne uključuju slikovnice o tamnoputim povijesnim osobama i transrodnoj djeci.

Prošlog mjeseca školski odbor u Tennesseeju izglasao je uklanjanje "Mausa", grafičkog romana o holokaustu koji je osvojio Pulitzerovu nagradu, s popisa za lektiru za osmi razred zbog vulgarnosti i golotinje.

Ultra-desni pastor Greg Locke iz Global Vision Bible Church je bio domaćin događaja spaljivanja knjiga, ohrabrujući župljane da bace knjige kao što su "Harry Potter" i "Sumrak" u vatru kako bi osudili ono što je opisao kao "demonske" materijale. Prije toga je pozvao sljedbenike da spale "zlo smeće" kao što su sci-fi knjige za odrasle, tarot karte, "vudu lutke i kristale".

"Ponesite sve svoje stvari o Harryju Potteru. Smijte se koliko god želite mrzitelji. Nije me briga. To je 100-postotno čarobnjaštvo", napisao je Locke u objavi na Instagramu u ponedjeljak. "Sve te 'Sumrak' knjige i filmovi. Taj je nered pun uroka, demonizma, metamorfoze i okultizma."
