Novoizabrani poglavar Srpske pravoslavne crkve (SPC) patrijarh Irinej ocijenio je neophodnim mogući susret s poglavarom Rimokatoličke crkve Papom Benediktom XVI. te dodao kako je došlo vrijeme za Papin dolazak u Srbiju, prenosi u srijedu beogradski tisak.

"Možda je došlo vrijeme da tom problemu pristupimo na najozbiljniji način. A kako se može pristupiti ako nema razgovora i kontakata. Prema tome, taj događaj i susret je neophodan da bi se počeli rješavati problemi koji su se toliko nataložili da smo se jako udaljili jedni od drugih", kazao je Irinej.

Srbijanski patrijarh naglasio je kako podjela između Istoka i Zapada traje već stoljećima te da je možda krajnje vrijeme da dođe do jednog takvog susreta kako bi "jedni drugima rekli što imamo za reći i potom mogli i jedni i drugi razmisliti o svemu".

"I ranije je bilo govora o dolasku rimskog episkopa. Naše je stajalište tada bilo da još nije bilo vrijeme i da treba sačekati bolju priliku. Sada smatram da treba pozdraviti takve razgovore", dodao je.

U srbijanskoj javnosti kao najbolje vrijeme za Papin posjet do sada je više puta navođena 2013. godina, kada se očekuje međunarodno obilježavanje 1700. godišnjice usvajanja Milanskog edikta.

Milanskim ediktom 313. godine car Konstantin uveo je ravnopravnost svih vjera i zaustavio progon kršćana u Rimskom carstvu.

Novoizabrani poglavar Srpske pravoslavne crkve (SPC) patrijarh Irinej ocijenio je neophodnim mogući susret s poglavarom Rimokatoličke crkve Papom Benediktom XVI. te dodao kako je došlo vrijeme za Papin dolazak u Srbiju, prenosi u srijedu beogradski tisak.

"Možda je došlo vrijeme da tom problemu pristupimo na najozbiljniji način. A kako se može pristupiti ako nema razgovora i kontakata. Prema tome, taj događaj i susret je neophodan da bi se počeli rješavati problemi koji su se toliko nataložili da smo se jako udaljili jedni od drugih", kazao je Irinej.

Srbijanski patrijarh naglasio je kako podjela između Istoka i Zapada traje već stoljećima te da je možda krajnje vrijeme da dođe do jednog takvog susreta kako bi "jedni drugima rekli što imamo za reći i potom mogli i jedni i drugi razmisliti o svemu".

"I ranije je bilo govora o dolasku rimskog episkopa. Naše je stajalište tada bilo da još nije bilo vrijeme i da treba sačekati bolju priliku. Sada smatram da treba pozdraviti takve razgovore", dodao je.

U srbijanskoj javnosti kao najbolje vrijeme za Papin posjet do sada je više puta navođena 2013. godina, kada se očekuje međunarodno obilježavanje 1700. godišnjice usvajanja Milanskog edikta.

Milanskim ediktom 313. godine car Konstantin uveo je ravnopravnost svih vjera i zaustavio progon kršćana u Rimskom carstvu.
