„Klinička ispitivanja BioNTechova cjepiva protiv raka trebala bi započeti ove godine u Velikoj Britaniji, što označava važan korak prema njihovoj mogućoj prodaji na otvorenom tržištu - izjavio je to za njemački Der Spiegel glavni izvršni direktor njemačke tvrtke BioNTech, Uğur Şahin.

BioNTech je poznat po svom revolucionarnom mRNA cjepivu protiv COVID-a koji je razvio s američkim partnerom Pfizerom. Kompanija je radila na mRNA cjepivima protiv raka prije izbijanja pandemije, no silna potražnja za cjepivom protiv koronavirusa usmjerila ih je zadnjih godina u tom pravcu. Sada sa britanskim partnerima BioNTech želi osigurati brzi napredak u razvoju cjepiva protiv raka. Uğur Şahin rekao je kako se nada da će cjepivo postati dio svakodnevnog liječenja prije 2030. godine.

Prije nam je trebalo do 6 mjeseci, a sad 4 tjedana 

 "Tijekom 2014. godine trebalo nam je tri  do šest mjeseci da stvorimo individualizirano cjepivo protiv raka, a sada nam treba četiri do šest tjedana. Naš cilj je da ga dobijemo znatno ispod četiri tjedna, poručio je Şahin. Njegova supruga, suosnivačica BioNTecha, ugledna znanstvenica i liječnica Özlem Türeci također je vrlo optimistična zbog dosadašnjih rezultata u istraživanju učinkovitosti cjepiva.

- Tvrtka trenutačno istražuje nekoliko mRNA cjepiva protiv raka. Za neke od njih vidimo dokaze kliničke aktivnosti. Klinička aktivnost znači da se imunološki sustav aktivira, tako da se kod jednog dijela pacijenata rak vidno smanjuje ili nestaje, a recidivi su rjeđi, objasnila je Özlem Türeci.

Cjepivo protiv Covida na principu mRNA u tijelo prenosi genetske upute za bezopasne proteine šiljka na koronavirusu. Upute uzimaju stanice koje izbacuju protein šiljaka. Ti se proteini, ili antigeni, zatim koriste kao ‘putokazi‘ koji pokazuju antitijelima imunosnog sustava i drugim obranama što tražiti i napadati. Isti pristup može se primijeniti kako bi se imunosni sustav pripremio za traženje i uništavanje stanica raka. Umjesto da nosi kod koji identificira viruse, cjepivo sadrži genetske upute za antigene protiv raka - proteine koji okružuju površine tumorskih stanica.

Stanice raka koje čine tumore mogu biti optočene širokim rasponom različitih proteina, što izuzetno otežava izradu cjepiva koje cilja sve stanice raka, bez zahvaćanja zdravih tkiva. Njemačka tvrtka nada se razvoju liječenja raka crijeva, melanoma i drugih vrsta zloćudnog tumora. Govoreći koncem prošle godine za britanski The Guardian bračni par znanstvenika je, uz to što je potvrdio kako je BioNTech naučio brže proizvoditi mRNA cjepiva tijekom pandemije jer sada bolje razumiju kako imunosni sustav ljudi reagira na mRNA, ukazao i kako su intenzivan razvoj i brzo uvođenje cjepiva protiv Covida također pomogli regulatorima lijekova da razrade kako brže odobriti cjepiva.

„Klinička ispitivanja BioNTechova cjepiva protiv raka trebala bi započeti ove godine u Velikoj Britaniji, što označava važan korak prema njihovoj mogućoj prodaji na otvorenom tržištu - izjavio je to za njemački Der Spiegel glavni izvršni direktor njemačke tvrtke BioNTech, Uğur Şahin.

BioNTech je poznat po svom revolucionarnom mRNA cjepivu protiv COVID-a koji je razvio s američkim partnerom Pfizerom. Kompanija je radila na mRNA cjepivima protiv raka prije izbijanja pandemije, no silna potražnja za cjepivom protiv koronavirusa usmjerila ih je zadnjih godina u tom pravcu. Sada sa britanskim partnerima BioNTech želi osigurati brzi napredak u razvoju cjepiva protiv raka. Uğur Şahin rekao je kako se nada da će cjepivo postati dio svakodnevnog liječenja prije 2030. godine.

Prije nam je trebalo do 6 mjeseci, a sad 4 tjedana 

 "Tijekom 2014. godine trebalo nam je tri  do šest mjeseci da stvorimo individualizirano cjepivo protiv raka, a sada nam treba četiri do šest tjedana. Naš cilj je da ga dobijemo znatno ispod četiri tjedna, poručio je Şahin. Njegova supruga, suosnivačica BioNTecha, ugledna znanstvenica i liječnica Özlem Türeci također je vrlo optimistična zbog dosadašnjih rezultata u istraživanju učinkovitosti cjepiva.

- Tvrtka trenutačno istražuje nekoliko mRNA cjepiva protiv raka. Za neke od njih vidimo dokaze kliničke aktivnosti. Klinička aktivnost znači da se imunološki sustav aktivira, tako da se kod jednog dijela pacijenata rak vidno smanjuje ili nestaje, a recidivi su rjeđi, objasnila je Özlem Türeci.

Cjepivo protiv Covida na principu mRNA u tijelo prenosi genetske upute za bezopasne proteine šiljka na koronavirusu. Upute uzimaju stanice koje izbacuju protein šiljaka. Ti se proteini, ili antigeni, zatim koriste kao ‘putokazi‘ koji pokazuju antitijelima imunosnog sustava i drugim obranama što tražiti i napadati. Isti pristup može se primijeniti kako bi se imunosni sustav pripremio za traženje i uništavanje stanica raka. Umjesto da nosi kod koji identificira viruse, cjepivo sadrži genetske upute za antigene protiv raka - proteine koji okružuju površine tumorskih stanica.

Stanice raka koje čine tumore mogu biti optočene širokim rasponom različitih proteina, što izuzetno otežava izradu cjepiva koje cilja sve stanice raka, bez zahvaćanja zdravih tkiva. Njemačka tvrtka nada se razvoju liječenja raka crijeva, melanoma i drugih vrsta zloćudnog tumora. Govoreći koncem prošle godine za britanski The Guardian bračni par znanstvenika je, uz to što je potvrdio kako je BioNTech naučio brže proizvoditi mRNA cjepiva tijekom pandemije jer sada bolje razumiju kako imunosni sustav ljudi reagira na mRNA, ukazao i kako su intenzivan razvoj i brzo uvođenje cjepiva protiv Covida također pomogli regulatorima lijekova da razrade kako brže odobriti cjepiva.
