Na Haitiju, kojeg je potres poharao u siječnju ove godine potvrđena je epidemija kolere od koje je do sada oboljelo više od 2600 ljudi, a gotovo 200 ih je umrlo. Stručnjaci očekuju povećanje broja oboljelih i smrtno stradalih prije nego što se bolest iskorijeni.
Predsjednik Haitija Rene Preval je potvrdio Reutersu da je u središnjem dijelu zemlje izbila epidemija te bolesti, dodavši kako vlasti poduzimaju sve neophodne mjere kako bi se spriječilo širenje zaraze.
- U pitanju je kolera, i sada nastojimo upoznati ljude s preventivnim mjerama koje trebaju poduzimati da se spriječi zaraza, kazao je preval, a ministar zdravlja dr Gabriel Thimote izjavio je kako je u bolnice Port-au-Princea smješteno više od tisuću oboljelih.
Epidemija kolere najgora je zdravstvena nedaća koja je Haiti pogodila nakon razarajučeg potresa od čijih je posljedica u siječnju ove godine stradalo do 300 tisuća ljudi, a više od milijun i pol ostalo je bez krova nad glavom, pa žive u uistinu neljudskim uvjetima na ulici i nemaju kaže WHO 'pristupa zdravstveno ispravnoj vodi’.
Štoviše, dužnosnici WHO-a drže kao mogući uzrok zaraze korištenje za piće zaražene vode rijeke Artibonite.
Kolera je, inače, zarazna bolest koju izaziva fekalijsko onečišćenje hrane ili vode, a ovo je prva epidemija te bolesti na Haitiju u posljednjih stotinu godina. Pacijenti pate od akutne dijareje, a žrtve umiru od ubrzanog dehidriranja, ponekad za samo nekoliko sati.
Humanitarne agencije, koje su na haitiju još od potresa, pokušavaju spriječiti širenje zaraze kampovima gdje su još uvijek smještene žrtve potresa. Panamerička zdravstvena organizacija, podružnica Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije, izvijestila je da je na ugroženo područje poslala liječničke timove, lijekove i zalihe čiste vode.

Na Haitiju, kojeg je potres poharao u siječnju ove godine potvrđena je epidemija kolere od koje je do sada oboljelo više od 2600 ljudi, a gotovo 200 ih je umrlo. Stručnjaci očekuju povećanje broja oboljelih i smrtno stradalih prije nego što se bolest iskorijeni.
Predsjednik Haitija Rene Preval je potvrdio Reutersu da je u središnjem dijelu zemlje izbila epidemija te bolesti, dodavši kako vlasti poduzimaju sve neophodne mjere kako bi se spriječilo širenje zaraze.
- U pitanju je kolera, i sada nastojimo upoznati ljude s preventivnim mjerama koje trebaju poduzimati da se spriječi zaraza, kazao je preval, a ministar zdravlja dr Gabriel Thimote izjavio je kako je u bolnice Port-au-Princea smješteno više od tisuću oboljelih.
Epidemija kolere najgora je zdravstvena nedaća koja je Haiti pogodila nakon razarajučeg potresa od čijih je posljedica u siječnju ove godine stradalo do 300 tisuća ljudi, a više od milijun i pol ostalo je bez krova nad glavom, pa žive u uistinu neljudskim uvjetima na ulici i nemaju kaže WHO 'pristupa zdravstveno ispravnoj vodi’.
Štoviše, dužnosnici WHO-a drže kao mogući uzrok zaraze korištenje za piće zaražene vode rijeke Artibonite.
Kolera je, inače, zarazna bolest koju izaziva fekalijsko onečišćenje hrane ili vode, a ovo je prva epidemija te bolesti na Haitiju u posljednjih stotinu godina. Pacijenti pate od akutne dijareje, a žrtve umiru od ubrzanog dehidriranja, ponekad za samo nekoliko sati.
Humanitarne agencije, koje su na haitiju još od potresa, pokušavaju spriječiti širenje zaraze kampovima gdje su još uvijek smještene žrtve potresa. Panamerička zdravstvena organizacija, podružnica Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije, izvijestila je da je na ugroženo područje poslala liječničke timove, lijekove i zalihe čiste vode.
