Ako bi nekoga danas mogli nazvati kraljem Wall Streeta, onda je to u svakom slučaju Larry Fink, osnivač i prvi čovjek BlackRocka. Očekuje se da će BlackRock po objavi kvartalnih rezultata 13. listopada postati prva investicijska kuća koja će imati pod upravljanjem 10 tisuća milijardi dolara, piše Jutarnji list.

Kako bi se shvatilo tu samu po sebi nevjerojatnu brojku, valja reći kako je to iznos jednak vrijednosti ukupne imovine kojom globalno upravljaju svi ostali hedge fondovi te private equity i venture capital industrija. Drugim riječima, s obzirom na razinu utjecaja koju ima zbog iznosa kojima upravlja njegova investicijska kuća, Fink je jedan od najvažnijih ljudi današnjice, računajući i državnike.

Inače, i u uvjetima pandemije BlackRock je imao vrlo robusne rezultate. Imali su 81 milijardu neto novih primitaka te 32-postotni rast prihoda godinu na godinu Uz to, uspjeli su realizirati 37-postotno povećanje operativnog prihoda godinu na godinu.

Ispod je tablica iz zadnjeg objavljenog izvješća BlackRocka za drugi kvartal 2021. iz koje je vidljivo da je ukupna imovina pod upravljanjem (AUM - Assets Under Management) dosegla 9,49 tisuća milijardi dolara, što je povećanje veće od 2000 milijardi dolara u odnosu na drugi kvartal 2020. godine. Procjenjuje se da će u trećem kvartalu imovina pod upravljanjem ići iznad 10 tisuća milijardi dolara.

BlackRock investira novac u ime umirovljenika koji štede za mirovinu, upravlja financijskom imovinom superbogataša, ali i sredstvima država i njihovih nacionalnih fondova. BlackRock je danas jedan od većih dioničara u svakoj bitnijoj američkoj kompaniji. Jedan je od najvećih zajmodavaca tvrtkama i vladama raznih zemalja, dok njihova tehnološka platforma Aladdin osigurava povezivanje globalne investicijske industrije. BlackRock upravlja mirovinskim ulaganjima za 35 milijuna Amerikanca.

Prije samo tri desetljeća BlackRock je bio mala investicijska kuća s nevelikim šansama da postane dominantan globalni igrač koji upravlja neviđenim iznosom privatnih i javnih bogatstava.

A danas - iako je fokus svjetskih medija najčešće na izuzetno visokim zaradama velikih high tech kompanija, niti one se, kad su u pitanju profiti, ne mogu usporediti s BlackRockom. Finkova kompanija ima više profite od Apple i Googlea, a tržišna valucija BlackRocka dosegla je 126 milijardi dolara.

Veličina BlackRocka danas je tolika da je postao predmetom kritika sa svih strana. Drugi tajkuni s Wall Streeta osjećaju se ugroženi zbog toga jer su njihove kompanije poput patuljaka u usporedbi s BlackRocokom. Finka je, primjerice, nedavno napao George Soros i to optužbom da riskira novac investitora ulažući ga u kinesku ekonomiju dok KP Kine preuzima sve čvršću kontrolu nad gospodarskim aktivnostima. BlackRock je sasvim očekivano česta meta kritika ljevice u više država, ali sve češće i desničara, ali Fink ostaje osoba koja savjetuje predsjednike, premijere, važnije ministre većih zemalja te veliki broj važnih direktora.

Taj moćnik svjetskih financija počeo je kao sin vlasnika dućana s cipelama, dok mu je majka bila profesorica engleskog jezika na California State Universityju.

Fink je završio političku teoriju na UCLA-u, a za temelje financija počeo se zanimati tek potkraj studija. Ispočetka se mislio okušati kao developer, ali je nakon MBA na UCLA završio na Wall Streetu kao jedan od onih mladića koji nisu imali jasnu poslovnu ideju, osim želje da zarade puno novca. Na Wall Street je stigao s dugom kosom i tirkiznom ogrlicom koju mu je poklonila tadašnja djevojka i buduća žena Lori. Privi ozbiljni karijerni napredak napravio je u meritokratskoj atmosferi First Bostona gdje su on i ostali iz radničke klase mogli napredovati ako su donosili novac, u čemu je Fink bio jako dobar te je postao najmlađi operativni direktor First Bostona u povijesti.

Ironija Finkove sudbine na neki način je u tome što je krenuo u vlastiti biznis ne zato što je dobro zarađivao, nego stoga što je u jednom trenutku izgubio puno novca. Iako je bio na putu da postane glavni izvršni direktor, u 1986. godini Fink je bio odgovoran za gubitke od 100 milijuna dolara zbog iznenadnog pada kamata. To ponižavajuće iskustvo, koje mu je blokiralo napredak u First Bostonu, zapravo je na neki način iniciralo stvaranje BlackRocka. Fink je napustio First Boston i krenuo u osnivanje vlastite kompanije.

Jasno je da se BlackRock kao tvrtka gradila kroz niz pametnih poteza, ali dva faktora u razvoju Finkova carstva ipak treba izdvojiti:

Prvi faktor su ljudi. Kad je napuštao First Boston, Fink je pozvao na sastanak danas investicijsku legendu Roba Kapitoa, kojeg je prije toga osobno vrbovao. On mu je postao ključni čovjek u cijelom nizu operacija i desna ruka za trgovinu mortgage vrijednosnicama.

Na tom sastanku bili su i Bob Golub, matematički čarobnjak koji je stvorio niz algoritama za kontrolu rizika, pa Barbara Novick koja se pretvorila u jednog od ponajboljih menadžera za portfelje proizvoda, a odmah na početku u priču je ušao i vrhunski analitičar obveznica, Keith Anderson. Kasnije je Fink doveo Susan Wagner i Hugha Wagnera, možda najspretnije menadžere na tržištu obveznica vezanih uz nekretnine.

Drugi faktor koji je dao najjači vjetar u jedra Finkova BlackWatera bilo je preuzimanje Baraclays Global Investorsa. Naime, Barclay's se u financijskoj krizi nasanjkao preuzimajući Lehman Brothers, upao je u probleme, a Fink i njegova ekipa imali su dovoljno hrabrosti, znanja, pregovarački vještina i osjećaja za trenutak da odrade preuzimanje.

S tim preuzimanjem udvostručili su imovinu pod upravljanjem te su najednom nadrasli cjelokupnu industriju hedge i private equity fondova.

Ako bi nekoga danas mogli nazvati kraljem Wall Streeta, onda je to u svakom slučaju Larry Fink, osnivač i prvi čovjek BlackRocka. Očekuje se da će BlackRock po objavi kvartalnih rezultata 13. listopada postati prva investicijska kuća koja će imati pod upravljanjem 10 tisuća milijardi dolara, piše Jutarnji list.

Kako bi se shvatilo tu samu po sebi nevjerojatnu brojku, valja reći kako je to iznos jednak vrijednosti ukupne imovine kojom globalno upravljaju svi ostali hedge fondovi te private equity i venture capital industrija. Drugim riječima, s obzirom na razinu utjecaja koju ima zbog iznosa kojima upravlja njegova investicijska kuća, Fink je jedan od najvažnijih ljudi današnjice, računajući i državnike.

Inače, i u uvjetima pandemije BlackRock je imao vrlo robusne rezultate. Imali su 81 milijardu neto novih primitaka te 32-postotni rast prihoda godinu na godinu Uz to, uspjeli su realizirati 37-postotno povećanje operativnog prihoda godinu na godinu.

Ispod je tablica iz zadnjeg objavljenog izvješća BlackRocka za drugi kvartal 2021. iz koje je vidljivo da je ukupna imovina pod upravljanjem (AUM - Assets Under Management) dosegla 9,49 tisuća milijardi dolara, što je povećanje veće od 2000 milijardi dolara u odnosu na drugi kvartal 2020. godine. Procjenjuje se da će u trećem kvartalu imovina pod upravljanjem ići iznad 10 tisuća milijardi dolara.

BlackRock investira novac u ime umirovljenika koji štede za mirovinu, upravlja financijskom imovinom superbogataša, ali i sredstvima država i njihovih nacionalnih fondova. BlackRock je danas jedan od većih dioničara u svakoj bitnijoj američkoj kompaniji. Jedan je od najvećih zajmodavaca tvrtkama i vladama raznih zemalja, dok njihova tehnološka platforma Aladdin osigurava povezivanje globalne investicijske industrije. BlackRock upravlja mirovinskim ulaganjima za 35 milijuna Amerikanca.

Prije samo tri desetljeća BlackRock je bio mala investicijska kuća s nevelikim šansama da postane dominantan globalni igrač koji upravlja neviđenim iznosom privatnih i javnih bogatstava.

A danas - iako je fokus svjetskih medija najčešće na izuzetno visokim zaradama velikih high tech kompanija, niti one se, kad su u pitanju profiti, ne mogu usporediti s BlackRockom. Finkova kompanija ima više profite od Apple i Googlea, a tržišna valucija BlackRocka dosegla je 126 milijardi dolara.

Veličina BlackRocka danas je tolika da je postao predmetom kritika sa svih strana. Drugi tajkuni s Wall Streeta osjećaju se ugroženi zbog toga jer su njihove kompanije poput patuljaka u usporedbi s BlackRocokom. Finka je, primjerice, nedavno napao George Soros i to optužbom da riskira novac investitora ulažući ga u kinesku ekonomiju dok KP Kine preuzima sve čvršću kontrolu nad gospodarskim aktivnostima. BlackRock je sasvim očekivano česta meta kritika ljevice u više država, ali sve češće i desničara, ali Fink ostaje osoba koja savjetuje predsjednike, premijere, važnije ministre većih zemalja te veliki broj važnih direktora.

Taj moćnik svjetskih financija počeo je kao sin vlasnika dućana s cipelama, dok mu je majka bila profesorica engleskog jezika na California State Universityju.

Fink je završio političku teoriju na UCLA-u, a za temelje financija počeo se zanimati tek potkraj studija. Ispočetka se mislio okušati kao developer, ali je nakon MBA na UCLA završio na Wall Streetu kao jedan od onih mladića koji nisu imali jasnu poslovnu ideju, osim želje da zarade puno novca. Na Wall Street je stigao s dugom kosom i tirkiznom ogrlicom koju mu je poklonila tadašnja djevojka i buduća žena Lori. Privi ozbiljni karijerni napredak napravio je u meritokratskoj atmosferi First Bostona gdje su on i ostali iz radničke klase mogli napredovati ako su donosili novac, u čemu je Fink bio jako dobar te je postao najmlađi operativni direktor First Bostona u povijesti.

Ironija Finkove sudbine na neki način je u tome što je krenuo u vlastiti biznis ne zato što je dobro zarađivao, nego stoga što je u jednom trenutku izgubio puno novca. Iako je bio na putu da postane glavni izvršni direktor, u 1986. godini Fink je bio odgovoran za gubitke od 100 milijuna dolara zbog iznenadnog pada kamata. To ponižavajuće iskustvo, koje mu je blokiralo napredak u First Bostonu, zapravo je na neki način iniciralo stvaranje BlackRocka. Fink je napustio First Boston i krenuo u osnivanje vlastite kompanije.

Jasno je da se BlackRock kao tvrtka gradila kroz niz pametnih poteza, ali dva faktora u razvoju Finkova carstva ipak treba izdvojiti:

Prvi faktor su ljudi. Kad je napuštao First Boston, Fink je pozvao na sastanak danas investicijsku legendu Roba Kapitoa, kojeg je prije toga osobno vrbovao. On mu je postao ključni čovjek u cijelom nizu operacija i desna ruka za trgovinu mortgage vrijednosnicama.

Na tom sastanku bili su i Bob Golub, matematički čarobnjak koji je stvorio niz algoritama za kontrolu rizika, pa Barbara Novick koja se pretvorila u jednog od ponajboljih menadžera za portfelje proizvoda, a odmah na početku u priču je ušao i vrhunski analitičar obveznica, Keith Anderson. Kasnije je Fink doveo Susan Wagner i Hugha Wagnera, možda najspretnije menadžere na tržištu obveznica vezanih uz nekretnine.

Drugi faktor koji je dao najjači vjetar u jedra Finkova BlackWatera bilo je preuzimanje Baraclays Global Investorsa. Naime, Barclay's se u financijskoj krizi nasanjkao preuzimajući Lehman Brothers, upao je u probleme, a Fink i njegova ekipa imali su dovoljno hrabrosti, znanja, pregovarački vještina i osjećaja za trenutak da odrade preuzimanje.

S tim preuzimanjem udvostručili su imovinu pod upravljanjem te su najednom nadrasli cjelokupnu industriju hedge i private equity fondova.
