Lino Červar danas u Stockholmu ima priliku zatvoriti krug. Otvorio ga je 2003. neočekivanim osvajanjem Svjetskog prvenstva u Portugalu, tome dodao i olimpijsko zlato iz Atene godinu kasnije, no zlato s Europskog prvenstva ostalo mu je izvan dohvata. U prvom mandatu, u generaciji Ivana Balića i Petra Metličića, dvaput je gubio finala i dvaput polufinala. Nakon poraza u finalu Eura 2010. od Francuza Lino je napustio klupu i činilo se kako je „prozor” za ostvarenje trostruke krune prošao. Ako mu to nije uspjelo s onom generacijom, onda nikad neće, mnogi su tako tada mislili.

Međutim, kako život piše svakakve priče, pa tako i sport, Červar se vratio na klupu reprezentacije. Poželio je dovršiti posao. No generacije su se promijenile, dočekali su ga tu neki novi dečki, iako je bilo i onih koje je vodio i u prvi put, poput našeg sadašnjeg vođe Domagoja Duvnjaka.

Červar se vratio pred Euro 2018. kojemu je domaćin bila Hrvatska. Idealna prilika da se to europsko zlato osvoji kući, pred svojim navijačima? Na papiru da, ali u zbilji nije išlo tako. Uzeli smo peto mjesto što je objektivno bio neuspjeh. Možda nismo vrijedili baš za zlato, ali smo očekivali više.

Puno se nakon tog Eura pričalo o Červarovu statusu. Navodno je bila sigurna stvar da neće nastaviti s poslom i činilo se kako će njegova izbornička karijera završiti bez tog željenog europskog zlata. Međutim, dogodio se obrat. Červar je nastavio s poslom, a sada, s dvije godine odmaka, s pravom možemo reći kako je taj potez bio pravi.

Jer Hrvatska je opet u finalu! Trećem Červarovom na Euru. Hoće li mu biti sretno? Na krilima neuništivog Duvnjaka i fanatične borbenosti „kauboja” sve je moguće. Vraćali su se iz mrtvih protiv Njemačke i Španjolske, preživjeli rijetko viđen triler protiv Norvežana... Premoreni su, to je sigurno, ali ne sumnjamo da će ih kao i do sada nositi srce, pa će i noge „slušati”. Na posljednjem su koraku. Najtežem, ali i najvrjednijem. Tko je mogao predvidjeti da će se to dogoditi baš na prvenstvu na koje je Hrvatska ispraćena s nikad manjim očekivanjima. Kad si zadnje finale igrao prije deset godina, a na zadnja dva velika natjecanja nisi bio ni u polufinalu, onda to i nije bilo iznenađujuće.

Što se Červara tiče, odradit će još Euro i Olimpijske igre u Tokiju i to bi trebalo biti to. Dakle, danas u Stockholmu nudi mu se zadnja šansa da osvoji Europsko prvenstvo i privede kraju priču koja bi bez problema mogla biti „preseljena” na filmsko platno.

Lino Červar danas u Stockholmu ima priliku zatvoriti krug. Otvorio ga je 2003. neočekivanim osvajanjem Svjetskog prvenstva u Portugalu, tome dodao i olimpijsko zlato iz Atene godinu kasnije, no zlato s Europskog prvenstva ostalo mu je izvan dohvata. U prvom mandatu, u generaciji Ivana Balića i Petra Metličića, dvaput je gubio finala i dvaput polufinala. Nakon poraza u finalu Eura 2010. od Francuza Lino je napustio klupu i činilo se kako je „prozor” za ostvarenje trostruke krune prošao. Ako mu to nije uspjelo s onom generacijom, onda nikad neće, mnogi su tako tada mislili.

Međutim, kako život piše svakakve priče, pa tako i sport, Červar se vratio na klupu reprezentacije. Poželio je dovršiti posao. No generacije su se promijenile, dočekali su ga tu neki novi dečki, iako je bilo i onih koje je vodio i u prvi put, poput našeg sadašnjeg vođe Domagoja Duvnjaka.

Červar se vratio pred Euro 2018. kojemu je domaćin bila Hrvatska. Idealna prilika da se to europsko zlato osvoji kući, pred svojim navijačima? Na papiru da, ali u zbilji nije išlo tako. Uzeli smo peto mjesto što je objektivno bio neuspjeh. Možda nismo vrijedili baš za zlato, ali smo očekivali više.

Puno se nakon tog Eura pričalo o Červarovu statusu. Navodno je bila sigurna stvar da neće nastaviti s poslom i činilo se kako će njegova izbornička karijera završiti bez tog željenog europskog zlata. Međutim, dogodio se obrat. Červar je nastavio s poslom, a sada, s dvije godine odmaka, s pravom možemo reći kako je taj potez bio pravi.

Jer Hrvatska je opet u finalu! Trećem Červarovom na Euru. Hoće li mu biti sretno? Na krilima neuništivog Duvnjaka i fanatične borbenosti „kauboja” sve je moguće. Vraćali su se iz mrtvih protiv Njemačke i Španjolske, preživjeli rijetko viđen triler protiv Norvežana... Premoreni su, to je sigurno, ali ne sumnjamo da će ih kao i do sada nositi srce, pa će i noge „slušati”. Na posljednjem su koraku. Najtežem, ali i najvrjednijem. Tko je mogao predvidjeti da će se to dogoditi baš na prvenstvu na koje je Hrvatska ispraćena s nikad manjim očekivanjima. Kad si zadnje finale igrao prije deset godina, a na zadnja dva velika natjecanja nisi bio ni u polufinalu, onda to i nije bilo iznenađujuće.

Što se Červara tiče, odradit će još Euro i Olimpijske igre u Tokiju i to bi trebalo biti to. Dakle, danas u Stockholmu nudi mu se zadnja šansa da osvoji Europsko prvenstvo i privede kraju priču koja bi bez problema mogla biti „preseljena” na filmsko platno.

Lino Červar danas u Stockholmu ima priliku zatvoriti krug. Otvorio ga je 2003. neočekivanim osvajanjem Svjetskog prvenstva u Portugalu, tome dodao i olimpijsko zlato iz Atene godinu kasnije, no zlato s Europskog prvenstva ostalo mu je izvan dohvata. U prvom mandatu, u generaciji Ivana Balića i Petra Metličića, dvaput je gubio finala i dvaput polufinala. Nakon poraza u finalu Eura 2010. od Francuza Lino je napustio klupu i činilo se kako je „prozor” za ostvarenje trostruke krune prošao. Ako mu to nije uspjelo s onom generacijom, onda nikad neće, mnogi su tako tada mislili.

Međutim, kako život piše svakakve priče, pa tako i sport, Červar se vratio na klupu reprezentacije. Poželio je dovršiti posao. No generacije su se promijenile, dočekali su ga tu neki novi dečki, iako je bilo...
