Utakmicom domaćina Egipta i Čilea danas u Kairu počinje Svjetsko prvenstvo za rukometaše, no ono pravo za nas kreće u petak kada otvaramo protiv Japana. Izbornik hrvatske reprezentacije Lino Červar nije od velikih riječi, skroman je u najavi. Pustit će da njegovi momci pričaju na terenu.
Ali, ne skriva da su “kauboji” samouvjereni i optimistični. Lanjsko finale Eura pokazalo je, unatoč porazu od Španjolske, da Hrvatska ima snagu za dalek domet. Koliko dalek, vidjet ćemo. Nije Hrvatska jedina koja je dobra i koja ima ambicije, ali da ima pravo očekivati velik rezultat – apsolutno ima.
Porazgovarali smo s Červarom (70) pred polazak za Egipat.
Izborniče, jeste li zadovoljni u kakvom je stanju reprezentacija?
- Uvijek hoću više, ali dečki su dobri, baš su klapa. Imamo par problema s ozljedama, no znali su oni i teže trenutke nadvladati. Moramo biti optimisti, boriti se i imati pravi odnos prema igri. Za koliko će to biti dovoljno, vidjet ćemo. Vidite i sami tu priču s koronom, izolacijama... Idemo s vjerom da možemo biti dobri.
Lani ste igrali finale Eura, a kakva su očekivanja ove godine?
- Prošle smo godine zaslužili zlato, ali nema veze. Bio bih zadovoljan da opet krojimo stvari, recimo to tako. Dobit ćemo ono što budemo zaslužili.
Znamo da ne volite gledati dalje od prve utakmice, ali ne treba bježati od toga da je ždrijeb povoljan u prvom krugu, a dobrim dijelom i u drugom.
- Je, ali ne bih volio da nas to zavara. Japanci su napredovali, dugo su zajedno i ovo je olimpijska godina u kojoj su oni domaćini. Islandski izbornik dobro ih je pripremio. Nikoga se ne plašimo, ali svakog moramo poštivati. Nema opuštanja. Moraju nas krasiti borbenost, skromnost i poniznost.
I dobra obrana?
- Naravno! Bez dobre obrane nema ništa. Od nje sve polazi, ona ti daje samopouzdanje i sigurnost. Moraš prvo obraniti svoj dom.
Je li vam utakmica sa Španjolskom u Poreču dala odgovore na neka pitanja?
- Djelomično. Možda nam je nedostajala ta druga utakmica u Madridu, ali vidite što se ondje događa, tko zna kad bismo se uopće vratili kući. Utakmica u Poreču ukazala mi je na neke nedostatke koje smo probali ispraviti kroz treninge. Vidjet ćemo jesmo li uspjeli.
Je li ova Hrvatska bolja od one prije 12 mjeseci?
- Teško je to usporediti. Svaka ima svoje vrijednosti. Treba se uvijek nanovo dokazivati. Nema života na lovorikama, kao lani smo igrali dobro pa moramo i sada. Ne. Kontinuitet je ono što se računa. Mi smo skoro dva desetljeća u vrhu, a ovi koji su više osvajali od nas imali su i neke padove. Mi ih nismo imali. E, to treba zadržati.
Koliko će moći Šego i Karačić, vidimo da su na popisu?
- Karačić se muči, ali siguran sam da će stisnuti zube kad bude trebalo, isto kao Šego. To su karakterni i uporni dečki hrabrog srca koji prihvaćaju izazove bilo koje vrste.
Je li proširenje prvenstva s 24 na 32 momčadi dobro ili bi se kvaliteta mogla razvodniti?
- Mogla bi pasti kvaliteta, da, ali je želja da se što više zemalja uključi u taj sportski pokret. Ima tu plusova i minusa.
Domaćini su imali želju pustiti dio publike na tribine, ali su ipak odustali od te ideje. Slažete li se s tim?
- U ovakvoj situaciji trebamo zaštititi sebe i druge, biti odgovoran. Moramo čuvati svakog čovjeka jer nema veće vrijednosti od ljudskog bića.
Za kraj ovog blic-razgovora u predvečerje velikog turnira izborniku smo zaželjeli sreću i što manje pozitivnih testova njegovih igrača na Covid-19 tijekom natjecanja, po mogućnosti ni jedan. Za sve ostalo ćemo lako.
Červar se nasmijao, zahvalio na podršci i tiho krenuo u lov na prvu hrvatsku medalju na SP-u još od 2013. godine.

Utakmicom domaćina Egipta i Čilea danas u Kairu počinje Svjetsko prvenstvo za rukometaše, no ono pravo za nas kreće u petak kada otvaramo protiv Japana. Izbornik hrvatske reprezentacije Lino Červar nije od velikih riječi, skroman je u najavi. Pustit će da njegovi momci pričaju na terenu.
Ali, ne skriva da su “kauboji” samouvjereni i optimistični. Lanjsko finale Eura pokazalo je, unatoč porazu od Španjolske, da Hrvatska ima snagu za dalek domet. Koliko dalek, vidjet ćemo. Nije Hrvatska jedina koja je dobra i koja ima ambicije, ali da ima pravo očekivati velik rezultat – apsolutno ima.
Porazgovarali smo s Červarom (70) pred polazak za Egipat.
Izborniče, jeste li zadovoljni u kakvom je stanju reprezentacija?
- Uvijek hoću više, ali dečki su dobri, baš su klapa. Imamo par problema s ozljedama, no znali su oni i teže trenutke nadvladati. Moramo biti optimisti, boriti se i imati pravi odnos prema igri. Za koliko će to biti dovoljno, vidjet ćemo. Vidite i sami tu priču s koronom, izolacijama... Idemo s vjerom da možemo biti dobri.
Lani ste igrali finale Eura, a kakva su očekivanja ove godine?
- Prošle smo godine zaslužili zlato, ali nema veze. Bio bih zadovoljan da opet krojimo stvari, recimo to tako. Dobit ćemo ono što budemo zaslužili.
Znamo da ne volite gledati dalje od prve utakmice, ali ne treba bježati od toga da je ždrijeb povoljan u prvom krugu, a dobrim dijelom i u drugom.
- Je, ali ne bih volio da nas to zavara. Japanci su napredovali, dugo su zajedno i ovo je olimpijska godina u kojoj su oni domaćini. Islandski izbornik dobro ih je pripremio. Nikoga se ne plašimo, ali svakog moramo poštivati. Nema opuštanja. Moraju nas krasiti borbenost, skromnost i poniznost.
I dobra obrana?
- Naravno! Bez dobre obrane nema ništa. Od nje sve polazi, ona ti daje samopouzdanje i sigurnost. Moraš prvo obraniti svoj dom.
Je li vam utakmica sa Španjolskom u Poreču dala odgovore na neka pitanja?
- Djelomično. Možda nam je nedostajala ta druga utakmica u Madridu, ali vidite što se ondje događa, tko zna kad bismo se uopće vratili kući. Utakmica u Poreču ukazala mi je na neke nedostatke koje smo probali ispraviti kroz treninge. Vidjet ćemo jesmo li uspjeli.
Je li ova Hrvatska bolja od one prije 12 mjeseci?
- Teško je to usporediti. Svaka ima svoje vrijednosti. Treba se uvijek nanovo dokazivati. Nema života na lovorikama, kao lani smo igrali dobro pa moramo i sada. Ne. Kontinuitet je ono što se računa. Mi smo skoro dva desetljeća u vrhu, a ovi koji su više osvajali od nas imali su i neke padove. Mi ih nismo imali. E, to treba zadržati.
Koliko će moći Šego i Karačić, vidimo da su na popisu?
- Karačić se muči, ali siguran sam da će stisnuti zube kad bude trebalo, isto kao Šego. To su karakterni i uporni dečki hrabrog srca koji prihvaćaju izazove bilo koje vrste.
Je li proširenje prvenstva s 24 na 32 momčadi dobro ili bi se kvaliteta mogla razvodniti?
- Mogla bi pasti kvaliteta, da, ali je želja da se što više zemalja uključi u taj sportski pokret. Ima tu plusova i minusa.
Domaćini su imali želju pustiti dio publike na tribine, ali su ipak odustali od te ideje. Slažete li se s tim?
- U ovakvoj situaciji trebamo zaštititi sebe i druge, biti odgovoran. Moramo čuvati svakog čovjeka jer nema veće vrijednosti od ljudskog bića.
Za kraj ovog blic-razgovora u predvečerje velikog turnira izborniku smo zaželjeli sreću i što manje pozitivnih testova njegovih igrača na Covid-19 tijekom natjecanja, po mogućnosti ni jedan. Za sve ostalo ćemo lako.
Červar se nasmijao, zahvalio na podršci i tiho krenuo u lov na prvu hrvatsku medalju na SP-u još od 2013. godine.
