Školski brod čileanske ratne mornarice “Esmeralda” od 14. do 18. srpnja boravit će u Gradskoj luci. Raskošni bijeli jedrenjak čeličnog trupa broji 300 članova posade, a porinut je u španjolskom Cadizu davne 1946. godine.
Pomorski znalci stavljaju ga među najljepše i najveće jedrenjake svijeta. No taj raskošni brod sinonim je za brutalna mučenja, a svjetski mediji prozvali su ga “brodom smrti”.
Brutalna batinanja
Nakon državnog udara generala Augusta Pinocheta u rujnu 1973. godine, “Esmeralda” postaje poprištem najgorih zlostavljanja i likvidacija. Ubojstva, silovanja, brutalna batinanja, elektrošokovi, odsijecanja dijelova tijela, sastavni su dio torture koja se odvijala u mračnom potpalublju broda.

Dvotjednom krvavom mučenju bilo je izloženo 110 Čileanaca, redom političkih neistomišljenika Pinochetova režima. Najpoznatija žrtva je katolički svećenik Michael Woodward koji je preminuo u najgorim mukama.
Stoga preživjeli politički zatvorenici, gdje god se brod pojavi, organiziraju prosvjede, osobito u lukama Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, koje jedrenjak čileanske ratne mornarice često posjećuje. Oni vjeruju da ni jedan grad, pa tako ni Split, ne smije biti domaćin “Esmeraldi” dok su počinitelji strašnih zločina nekažnjeni.
Proces šestorici
Pred čileanskim sudom danas se vodi proces protiv šest visokih časnika tadašnje ratne mornarice. - Čile je zadnjih 20 godina perjanica demokracije u Južnoj Americi i svi zločini koji su počinjeni za vrijeme diktature su sankcionirani. Više nema smisla taj brod povezivati s generalom Pinochetom.
Predsjednica Čilea Michelle Bachelet je osvjedočeni antifašist i vodi zemlju zrele demokracije - kazao nam je Juroslav Buljubašić, počasni konzul Republike Čilea u Hrvatskoj.
Michelle Bachelet prva je predsjednica u povijesti Čilea i među predvodnicima je ljevičarskog vala koji se posljednjih godina širi Latinskom Amerikom. Nije lijepa “Esmeralda” kriva za crne trenutke koji su je zatekli, no sigurno je da njezinim posjetiteljima, kada za dva mjeseca stigne u Split, neće biti ugodno hodati krvlju natopljenim potpalubljem broda kojim, još uvijek u potrazi za pravdom, lutaju duše ubijenih protivnika čileanskog diktatora.
Bijela dama
“Esmeralda” ili “Bijela dama”, kako je nazivaju mornari, čelična je, 113 metara duga barkantina, iznad koje se vijori 21 jedro, ukupne površine od gotovo 3000 četvornih metara.
Spada u klasu najvećih jedrenjaka na svijetu, a šesti je u seriji brodova čileanske mornarice čiju krmu resi to ime. Maksimalna brzina plovidbe joj je 17 čvorova.

Školski brod čileanske ratne mornarice “Esmeralda” od 14. do 18. srpnja boravit će u Gradskoj luci. Raskošni bijeli jedrenjak čeličnog trupa broji 300 članova posade, a porinut je u španjolskom Cadizu davne 1946. godine.
Pomorski znalci stavljaju ga među najljepše i najveće jedrenjake svijeta. No taj raskošni brod sinonim je za brutalna mučenja, a svjetski mediji prozvali su ga “brodom smrti”.
Brutalna batinanja
Nakon državnog udara generala Augusta Pinocheta u rujnu 1973. godine, “Esmeralda” postaje poprištem najgorih zlostavljanja i likvidacija. Ubojstva, silovanja, brutalna batinanja, elektrošokovi, odsijecanja dijelova tijela, sastavni su dio torture koja se odvijala u mračnom potpalublju broda.

Dvotjednom krvavom mučenju bilo je izloženo 110 Čileanaca, redom političkih neistomišljenika Pinochetova režima. Najpoznatija žrtva je katolički svećenik Michael Woodward koji je preminuo u najgorim mukama.
Stoga preživjeli politički zatvorenici, gdje god se brod pojavi, organiziraju prosvjede, osobito u lukama Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, koje jedrenjak čileanske ratne mornarice često posjećuje. Oni vjeruju da ni jedan grad, pa tako ni Split, ne smije biti domaćin “Esmeraldi” dok su počinitelji strašnih zločina nekažnjeni.
Proces šestorici
Pred čileanskim sudom danas se vodi proces protiv šest visokih časnika tadašnje ratne mornarice. - Čile je zadnjih 20 godina perjanica demokracije u Južnoj Americi i svi zločini koji su počinjeni za vrijeme diktature su sankcionirani. Više nema smisla taj brod povezivati s generalom Pinochetom.
Predsjednica Čilea Michelle Bachelet je osvjedočeni antifašist i vodi zemlju zrele demokracije - kazao nam je Juroslav Buljubašić, počasni konzul Republike Čilea u Hrvatskoj.
Michelle Bachelet prva je predsjednica u povijesti Čilea i među predvodnicima je ljevičarskog vala koji se posljednjih godina širi Latinskom Amerikom. Nije lijepa “Esmeralda” kriva za crne trenutke koji su je zatekli, no sigurno je da njezinim posjetiteljima, kada za dva mjeseca stigne u Split, neće biti ugodno hodati krvlju natopljenim potpalubljem broda kojim, još uvijek u potrazi za pravdom, lutaju duše ubijenih protivnika čileanskog diktatora.
Bijela dama
“Esmeralda” ili “Bijela dama”, kako je nazivaju mornari, čelična je, 113 metara duga barkantina, iznad koje se vijori 21 jedro, ukupne površine od gotovo 3000 četvornih metara.
Spada u klasu najvećih jedrenjaka na svijetu, a šesti je u seriji brodova čileanske mornarice čiju krmu resi to ime. Maksimalna brzina plovidbe joj je 17 čvorova.
