Prijevodna strategija da se "Our Friend" ("Naš prijatelj") u hrvatskom naslovu pretvori u množinu i postane "Prijatelji" može zbuniti pojedine kinogledatelje, odnosno slučajne namjernike koji dođu u multipleks i na licu mjesta odluče što bi gledali.

"Vidi, evo 'Prijatelji'...", zamislivo je da netko upre prstom u ekran iznad blagajne, pomislivši, možda, kako je posrijedi filmska verzija popularne televizijske komične serije. Netko bi mogao pomisliti i da se radi o komediji, kad se, čekajući red na blagajni, okrene oko sebe i ugleda komičara Jasona Segela na plakatu filma "Our Friend" koji se vrti na videozidovima multipleksa.

Međutim, "Prijatelji" nemaju veze s "Prijateljima", izuzmemo li zajednički suživot troje frendova, a nisu ni komedija, već humorna (melo)drama, s najvećim naglaskom na "drama".

Priprema za dramu filma "Our Friend" slijedi odmah u prvoj sceni. "Kako ovo želiš izvesti", Matthew Teague (Casey Affleck) pita bolesnu suprugu Nicole (Dakota Johnson) koja leži u sobi s maramom na glavi, dok vani na trijemu zajednički prijatelj bračnog para Dane (Segel) zabavlja njihove kćerke (Isabella Kai, Violet McGraw).

Pod "ovim" Matt cilja na to da Nicole obznani kćerkama kako umire od raka. "Ti im reci, a ja ću ih čvrsto privinuti uz sebe", predloži Nicole. "Ne znam mogu li ja to", priznaje shrvani Matt. Klinke na koncu bivaju pozvane u kuću, kamera ostaje napolju s Daneom i iznutra ubrzo odjeknu uplakani vriskovi.

Cijeli vrlo solidni "tear-jerker movie" ocrtan je u toj uvodnoj sceni, Nicoleinoj potrebi za zagrljajem bližnjih, Mattovoj devastiranosti i nesigurnosti od toga što donosi sutra bez supruge, Daneovoj odlučnosti da kao bliski prijatelj obitelji bude uz frendove kad je najteže i izbjegavanju prikaza najgorih trenutaka posljedice bolesti.

"Prijatelji" su nadahnuti istinitom pričom ovjekovječenom u dirljivom i nagrađenom esejističkom članku "The Friend: Love Is Not a Big Enough Word", objavljenom 2015. u "Esquireu", koji je novinar Matt posvetio Daneu. Matt je počeo pisati članak o Nicole i njezinoj bolesti, da bi se na kraju pretvorio u tekst o prijatelju Daneu koji se odrekao života kako bi mu bio oslonac kad mu je oslonac najviše trebao.

Takav je i film "Our Friend", ponajprije drama o prijateljstvu, dobroti, brizi i privrženosti pa tek onda o umiranju, više Daneova (i Mattova) priča, nego Nicoleina. Mudra je to odluka redateljice Gabriele Cowperthwaite (BAFTA-om ovjenčani dokumentarac "Blackfish") i scenarista Brada Ingelsbyja ("Čelična pravda", "Izvan igre", "Mare iz Easttowna").

Na taj način film pronalazi balans i ne upada preduboko u sentimentalnost i patetiku koje je teško izbjeći kod sličnih "tear-jerker" drama ("Čuvarica svoje sestre", "Krive su zvijezde", "Još uvijek vjerujem"...), a i fokus je na Segelu i Afflecku koji se u ovakvim ulogama prirodnije snalaze od Johnsonice.

Dakota je prevalila dug put od "Pedeset nijansi sive" naovamo, sve je bolja i ne bira prvoloptaške projekte, ali za ulogu ovog tipa treba joj više dramskog iskustva, naročito ako se usporedi s Debrom Winger iz oskarovskog klasika Jamesa L. Brooksa "Terms Of Endearment", očiglednog uzora za "Prijatelje" koji zazivaju novo "Vrijeme nježnosti".

S druge strane, Casey je na domaćem terenu drame nakon osvojenog Oscara za "Manchester By The Sea" i malo tko od njegove generacije može ovako ispoljiti unutarnju tugu i ranjivost bez puno riječi, tj. patiti u tišini. A Jason je dramsko otkriće filma, nikad bolji u nekomičnoj ulozi ("Jeff Who Lives At Home", "The End Of The Tour").

Poznatiji po komičnim nastupima u seriji "Kako sam upoznao vašu majku i filmovima poput "Preboljeti Sarah Marshall" ili "Snimke seksa", Segel je znao utjeloviti tužnog klauna, ali ovdje je to potencirao i ostvario nadahnjujuću "robinwilliamovsku" ulogu, na koju bi pokojni glumac-oskarovac bio prilično ponosan, pronalazeći "feel good" u "feel bad" situaciji.

Upravo on drži priču i (obitelj) na okupu čak i kad se čini da bi mogla izgubiti fokus u razbijenoj kronologiji s vremenskim preskocima između perioda "prije/poslije dijagnoze". Zahvaljujući njemu "Our Friend" postaje "the movie the world needs right now". Prijeko potreban podsjetnik da dobrota može postojati (i postoji) i u stvarnosti, ne samo na filmu.

Jason Segel i Dakota Johnson prethodno su dijelili kadar u romantičnoj komediji "Vječni zaručnici" u kojoj je on imao glavnu, a ona sporednu ulogu.

Prijevodna strategija da se "Our Friend" ("Naš prijatelj") u hrvatskom naslovu pretvori u množinu i postane "Prijatelji" može zbuniti pojedine kinogledatelje, odnosno slučajne namjernike koji dođu u multipleks i na licu mjesta odluče što bi gledali.

"Vidi, evo 'Prijatelji'...", zamislivo je da netko upre prstom u ekran iznad blagajne, pomislivši, možda, kako je posrijedi filmska verzija popularne televizijske komične serije. Netko bi mogao pomisliti i da se radi o komediji, kad se, čekajući red na blagajni, okrene oko sebe i ugleda komičara Jasona Segela na plakatu filma "Our Friend" koji se vrti na videozidovima multipleksa.

Međutim, "Prijatelji" nemaju veze s "Prijateljima", izuzmemo li zajednički suživot troje frendova, a nisu ni komedija, već humorna (melo)drama, s najvećim naglaskom na "drama".

Priprema za dramu filma "Our Friend" slijedi odmah u prvoj sceni. "Kako ovo želiš izvesti", Matthew Teague (Casey Affleck) pita bolesnu suprugu Nicole (Dakota Johnson) koja leži u sobi s maramom na glavi, dok vani na trijemu zajednički prijatelj bračnog para Dane (Segel) zabavlja njihove kćerke (Isabella Kai, Violet McGraw).

Pod "ovim" Matt cilja na to da Nicole obznani kćerkama kako umire od raka. "Ti im reci, a ja ću ih čvrsto privinuti uz sebe", predloži Nicole. "Ne znam mogu li ja to", priznaje shrvani Matt. Klinke na koncu bivaju pozvane u kuću, kamera ostaje napolju s Daneom i iznutra ubrzo odjeknu uplakani vriskovi.

Cijeli vrlo solidni "tear-jerker movie" ocrtan je u toj uvodnoj sceni, Nicoleinoj potrebi za zagrljajem bližnjih, Mattovoj devastiranosti i nesigurnosti od toga što donosi sutra bez supruge, Daneovoj odlučnosti da kao bliski prijatelj obitelji bude uz frendove kad je najteže i izbjegavanju prikaza najgorih trenutaka posljedice bolesti.

"Prijatelji" su nadahnuti istinitom pričom ovjekovječenom u dirljivom i nagrađenom esejističkom članku "The Friend: Love Is Not a Big Enough Word", objavljenom 2015. u "Esquireu", koji je novinar Matt posvetio Daneu. Matt je počeo pisati članak o Nicole i njezinoj bolesti, da bi se na kraju pretvorio u tekst o prijatelju Daneu koji se odrekao života kako bi mu bio oslonac kad mu je oslonac najviše trebao.

Takav je i film "Our Friend", ponajprije drama o prijateljstvu, dobroti, brizi i privrženosti pa tek onda o umiranju, više Daneova (i Mattova) priča, nego Nicoleina. Mudra je to odluka redateljice Gabriele Cowperthwaite (BAFTA-om ovjenčani dokumentarac "Blackfish") i scenarista Brada Ingelsbyja ("Čelična pravda", "Izvan igre", "Mare iz Easttowna").

Na taj način film pronalazi balans i ne upada preduboko u sentimentalnost i patetiku koje je teško izbjeći kod sličnih "tear-jerker" drama ("Čuvarica svoje sestre", "Krive su zvijezde", "Još uvijek vjerujem"...), a i fokus je na Segelu i Afflecku koji se u ovakvim ulogama prirodnije snalaze od Johnsonice.

Dakota je prevalila dug put od "Pedeset nijansi sive" naovamo, sve je bolja i ne bira prvoloptaške projekte, ali za ulogu ovog tipa treba joj više dramskog iskustva, naročito ako se usporedi s Debrom Winger iz oskarovskog klasika Jamesa L. Brooksa "Terms Of Endearment", očiglednog uzora za "Prijatelje" koji zazivaju novo "Vrijeme nježnosti".

S druge strane, Casey je na domaćem terenu drame nakon osvojenog Oscara za "Manchester By The Sea" i malo tko od njegove generacije može ovako ispoljiti unutarnju tugu i ranjivost bez puno riječi, tj. patiti u tišini. A Jason je dramsko otkriće filma, nikad bolji u nekomičnoj ulozi ("Jeff Who Lives At Home", "The End Of The Tour").

Poznatiji po komičnim nastupima u seriji "Kako sam upoznao vašu majku i filmovima poput "Preboljeti Sarah Marshall" ili "Snimke seksa", Segel je znao utjeloviti tužnog klauna, ali ovdje je to potencirao i ostvario nadahnjujuću "robinwilliamovsku" ulogu, na koju bi pokojni glumac-oskarovac bio prilično ponosan, pronalazeći "feel good" u "feel bad" situaciji.

Upravo on drži priču i (obitelj) na okupu čak i kad se čini da bi mogla izgubiti fokus u razbijenoj kronologiji s vremenskim preskocima između perioda "prije/poslije dijagnoze". Zahvaljujući njemu "Our Friend" postaje "the movie the world needs right now". Prijeko potreban podsjetnik da dobrota može postojati (i postoji) i u stvarnosti, ne samo na filmu.

Jason Segel i Dakota Johnson prethodno su dijelili kadar u romantičnoj komediji "Vječni zaručnici" u kojoj je on imao glavnu, a ona sporednu ulogu.
