Ljevičarski političar hrvatskih korijena Gabriel Boric postao je u nedjelju najmlađi predsjednik Čilea, pobijedivši u do kraja neizvjesnoj utrci kandidata krajnje desnice Josea Antonia Kasta, na izborima koji predstavljaju vrhunac rasta popularnosti progresivne ljevice u toj zemlji.

U središtu Santiaga njegovi su pristaše klicali, međusobno se grlili i mahali zastavama s Boricevim likom, kao i duginim zastavama LGBT skupina koje su podržale njegovu socijalno inkluzivnu politiku i planove za reviziju čileanskog tržišno orijentiranog ekonomskog modela.

Tijekom svog pobjedničkog govora Boric je najavio da će njegova vlada proširiti socijalna prava stanovništva, ali da će to napraviti na fiskalno odgovoran način i imajući na umu brigu za zdravlje ekonomije najvećeg svjetskog proizvođača bakra.

Također je rekao da će se suprotstaviti rudarskim projektima koji "uništavaju" prirodni okoliš, među kojima je i kontroverzni projekt Dominga vrijedan 2,5 milijarda dolara koji uključuje rudarenje željeza, bakra i zlata. "Uništavajući naš svijet uništavamo i sebe. Ne želimo više 'žrtvovanih zona', ne želimo projekte koji uništavaju našu zemlju, naše zajednice, i to naglašavamo u ovom slučaju koji je postao simboličan: Ne Domingi!", rekao je Boric. Taj bi projekt trebao biti pokrenut nedaleko od prirodnih rezervata oko 500 kilometara sjeverno od glavnog grada Santiaga.

Nakon više od 99 posto prebrojanih glasačkih listića, Boric (35), koji vodi lijevu koaliciju s Komunističkom strankom, imao je 55,86 posto glasova, u usporedbi s 44,14 posto koliko je dobio njegov rival, krajnji desničar Jose Antonio Kast, koji je priznao poraz.

"Upravo sam razgovarao s @gabrielboric i čestitao mu na njegovom velikom uspjehu", napisao je Kast na Twitteru. "Od danas, on je izabrani predsjednik Čilea i zaslužuje naše poštovanje i konstruktivnu suradnju. Čile uvijek na prvome mjestu", dodao je.

Prosvjedi 2019. godine bacili su svjetlo na ekonomske nejednakosti i izazvali službene izmjene ustava.

"Bit ću predsjednik svih Čileanaca bez obzira da li su glasali za mene ili nisu", izjavio je Boric u telefonskom razgovoru s predsjednikom Sebastianom Pinerom, koji odstupa s dužnosti u ožujku.

U najneizvjesnijoj utrci od povratka demokracije 1990., dvojica kandidata nudila su potpuno suprotne vizije budućnosti te zemlje.

Gabriel Boric, zastupnik od 2014., čelnik široke lijeve koalicije, predstavljao se kao kandidat koji će provesti promjene i politički nasljednik pokreta iz 2019. za više socijalne pravde u zemlji s najvećim nejednakostima unutar Organizacije za gospodarsku suradnju i razvoj (OECD). Kast je za sebe rekao da je kandidat "reda, pravde i sigurnosti" koji žali za vremenom vojne diktature Augusta Pinocheta.

Niti jedan ne pripada centrističkom političkom mainstreamu koji je vladao Čileom od ukidanja Pinochetove vojne diktature 1990. i obojica su posljednjih tjedana moderirali svoje stavove kako bi pridobili centrističke birače.

Boric, koji je pozornost javnosti privukao kao vođa studentskih prosvjeda 2011. za bolje i pristupačnije obrazovanje, napisao je u subotu u otvorenom pismu da će njegova vlada provesti promjene koje Čileanci traže od prosvjeda 2019. godine. Ti prosvjedi, koji su trajali mjesecima i povremeno postajali nasilni, potaknuli su službeni proces izmjena desetljećima starog čileanskog ustava, koji će se sljedeće godine suočiti s referendumom.

Boric se zauzima za veliku poreznu reformu po kojoj bi najbogatiji - jedan posto Čileanaca koji posjeduju 26,5 posto nacionalnog bogatstva, više sudjelovali u njegovu programu boljeg pristupa zdravstvu i školstvu te uspostave novog mirovinskog sustava koji je danas u cijelosti u privatnim rukama.

Ljevičarski političar hrvatskih korijena Gabriel Boric postao je u nedjelju najmlađi predsjednik Čilea, pobijedivši u do kraja neizvjesnoj utrci kandidata krajnje desnice Josea Antonia Kasta, na izborima koji predstavljaju vrhunac rasta popularnosti progresivne ljevice u toj zemlji.

U središtu Santiaga njegovi su pristaše klicali, međusobno se grlili i mahali zastavama s Boricevim likom, kao i duginim zastavama LGBT skupina koje su podržale njegovu socijalno inkluzivnu politiku i planove za reviziju čileanskog tržišno orijentiranog ekonomskog modela.

Tijekom svog pobjedničkog govora Boric je najavio da će njegova vlada proširiti socijalna prava stanovništva, ali da će to napraviti na fiskalno odgovoran način i imajući na umu brigu za zdravlje ekonomije najvećeg svjetskog proizvođača bakra.

Također je rekao da će se suprotstaviti rudarskim projektima koji "uništavaju" prirodni okoliš, među kojima je i kontroverzni projekt Dominga vrijedan 2,5 milijarda dolara koji uključuje rudarenje željeza, bakra i zlata. "Uništavajući naš svijet uništavamo i sebe. Ne želimo više 'žrtvovanih zona', ne želimo projekte koji uništavaju našu zemlju, naše zajednice, i to naglašavamo u ovom slučaju koji je postao simboličan: Ne Domingi!", rekao je Boric. Taj bi projekt trebao biti pokrenut nedaleko od prirodnih rezervata oko 500 kilometara sjeverno od glavnog grada Santiaga.

Nakon više od 99 posto prebrojanih glasačkih listića, Boric (35), koji vodi lijevu koaliciju s Komunističkom strankom, imao je 55,86 posto glasova, u usporedbi s 44,14 posto koliko je dobio njegov rival, krajnji desničar Jose Antonio Kast, koji je priznao poraz.

"Upravo sam razgovarao s @gabrielboric i čestitao mu na njegovom velikom uspjehu", napisao je Kast na Twitteru. "Od danas, on je izabrani predsjednik Čilea i zaslužuje naše poštovanje i konstruktivnu suradnju. Čile uvijek na prvome mjestu", dodao je.

Prosvjedi 2019. godine bacili su svjetlo na ekonomske nejednakosti i izazvali službene izmjene ustava.

"Bit ću predsjednik svih Čileanaca bez obzira da li su glasali za mene ili nisu", izjavio je Boric u telefonskom razgovoru s predsjednikom Sebastianom Pinerom, koji odstupa s dužnosti u ožujku.

U najneizvjesnijoj utrci od povratka demokracije 1990., dvojica kandidata nudila su potpuno suprotne vizije budućnosti te zemlje.

Gabriel Boric, zastupnik od 2014., čelnik široke lijeve koalicije, predstavljao se kao kandidat koji će provesti promjene i politički nasljednik pokreta iz 2019. za više socijalne pravde u zemlji s najvećim nejednakostima unutar Organizacije za gospodarsku suradnju i razvoj (OECD). Kast je za sebe rekao da je kandidat "reda, pravde i sigurnosti" koji žali za vremenom vojne diktature Augusta Pinocheta.

Niti jedan ne pripada centrističkom političkom mainstreamu koji je vladao Čileom od ukidanja Pinochetove vojne diktature 1990. i obojica su posljednjih tjedana moderirali svoje stavove kako bi pridobili centrističke birače.

Boric, koji je pozornost javnosti privukao kao vođa studentskih prosvjeda 2011. za bolje i pristupačnije obrazovanje, napisao je u subotu u otvorenom pismu da će njegova vlada provesti promjene koje Čileanci traže od prosvjeda 2019. godine. Ti prosvjedi, koji su trajali mjesecima i povremeno postajali nasilni, potaknuli su službeni proces izmjena desetljećima starog čileanskog ustava, koji će se sljedeće godine suočiti s referendumom.

Boric se zauzima za veliku poreznu reformu po kojoj bi najbogatiji - jedan posto Čileanaca koji posjeduju 26,5 posto nacionalnog bogatstva, više sudjelovali u njegovu programu boljeg pristupa zdravstvu i školstvu te uspostave novog mirovinskog sustava koji je danas u cijelosti u privatnim rukama.
