Misterija, horor i triler pogonsko su gorivo nove Netflixove serije "Arhiv 81" kreatorice Rebecce Sonnenshine ("The Boys") na kojoj su redateljski obol, među ostalima, dali Rebecca Thomas ("Stranger Things") i Haifaa Al-Mansour ("Wadjda"), a prpoducirao ju je James Wan (serijal "Prizivanja", "Zloćudno").

"Archive 81" je u dosluhu sa slično žanriranim filmovima. Ovo je filmofilska serija, poput također Netflixove "Brand New Cherry Flavor", a zapravo djeluje kao nekakav misteriozno-hororski spoj prethodno spomenute i "Ponoćne mise".

Filmofilska je već samim time što se njezina radnja, djelomično nadahnuta istoimenim popularnim "podcastom", vrti oko izgubljenih i oštećenih VHS kaseta koje voli pronalaziti i restaurirati protagonist serije, arhivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie).

U njegovoj kolekciji videokaseta kamera će načas otkriti filmove kao što su "Stvor", "Blacula", "The Tomb", "Willard", "Deadly Illusion"... Eklektičan ukus, nema što.

Usto, Dan spominje i Tarkovskog, u jednom trenutku će zasvirati "Love Will Tear Us Apart" kao "link" prema misterioznom "Donnieju Darku", a filmofili će opaziti utjecaj horora poput "Kruga", "Zle kobi"..., kao i "found footage" filmova od "Vještice iz Blaira" nadalje.

Radnja započinje kad sumnjivi milijunaš Virgil (Martin Donovan) angažira Dana da pokuša popraviti oštećene videokasete, stradale u požaru.

Nakon nevoljkog prihvaćanja zadatka, Dan se seli na jezivo imanje udaljeno od grada gdje su kasete pohranjene i tamo je, naravno, slab signal za mobitel. Sadržaj vrpci je "povjerljiv", a Dan će ubrzo shvatiti i zašto.

Na njima se nalaze snimke studentice sociologije Melody (Dina Shihabi) iz devedesetih. Melody je kamerom bilježila svaki korak u potrazi za biološkom majkom u newyorškom apartmanskom kompleksu gdje je ona zadnji put viđena.

Apartmanski kompleks je jezovitiji od Danova imanja: Melody usred noći čuje pjevušenje neke stravične melodije, šesti kat je "off limits", a i stanovnici se usred razgovora s njom počnu nenormalno trzati, nakon čega nastaju smetnje tako da Dan ne vidi što se događa, nego samo čuje iskrivljeno režanje.

Vrhunac horora slijedi kad se od smetnji stvori neko demonsko lice, što će Danu biti toliko traumatično da će usnuti košmar s rukom koja izlazi iz ekrana.

Svaka iduća pogledana vrpca budi sve veću misteriju, zavjeru i paranoju kad dovede Dana do "creepy shit" otkrića o postojanju nekakvog kulta, drugog svijeta/druge dimenzije, natprirodnih događaja i tome slično, te doslovce ispreplete njegov put s Melodynim kad se spoji vrijeme i prostor.

Kao što to obično biva, serija je znatno bolja dok postavlja misteriju nego kad je počne (raz)riješavati, a čak je i uputnije da se epizode gledaju ponaosob, nego odjednom u "bindžerskom" stilu s obzirom na trajanje/sporiji ritam izlaganja, slično kao "Midnight Mass".

"Arhiv 81" previše toga želi otkriti umjesto da ostavi neka pitanja neodgovorenima ili dubioznima. No, neovisno o tome serija se uglavnom gleda s intrigom, a i ima pamtljivu završnu scenu.

Dakako, scenu nećemo otkriti, ali možemo zapisati da podjednako dobro funkcionira kao dvosmisleni kraj priče i navlakuša za potencijalnu drugu sezonu.

"Archive 81" je u dosluhu sa slično žanriranim filmovima. Ovo je filmofilska serija, poput također Netflixove "Brand New Cherry Flavor", a zapravo djeluje kao nekakav misteriozno-hororski spoj prethodno spomenute i "Ponoćne mise".

Filmofilska je već samim time što se njezina radnja, djelomično nadahnuta istoimenim popularnim "podcastom", vrti oko izgubljenih i oštećenih VHS kaseta koje voli pronalaziti i restaurirati protagonist serije, arhivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie).

U njegovoj kolekciji videokaseta kamera će načas otkriti filmove kao što su "Stvor", "Blacula", "The Tomb", "Willard", "Deadly Illusion"... Eklektičan ukus, nema što.

Usto, Dan spominje i Tarkovskog, u jednom trenutku će zasvirati "Love Will Tear Us Apart" kao "link" prema misterioznom "Donnieju Darku", a filmofili će opaziti utjecaj horora poput "Kruga", "Zle kobi"..., kao i "found footage" filmova od "Vještice iz Blaira" nadalje.

Radnja započinje kad sumnjivi milijunaš Virgil (Martin Donovan) angažira Dana da pokuša popraviti oštećene videokasete, stradale u požaru.

Nakon nevoljkog prihvaćanja zadatka, Dan se seli na jezivo imanje udaljeno od grada gdje su kasete pohranjene i tamo je, naravno, slab signal za mobitel. Sadržaj vrpci je "povjerljiv", a Dan će ubrzo shvatiti i zašto.

Na njima se nalaze snimke studentice sociologije Melody (Dina Shihabi) iz devedesetih. Melody je kamerom bilježila svaki korak u potrazi za biološkom majkom u newyorškom apartmanskom kompleksu gdje je ona zadnji put viđena.

Apartmanski kompleks je jezovitiji od Danova imanja: Melody usred noći čuje pjevušenje neke stravične melodije, šesti kat je "off limits", a i stanovnici se usred razgovora s njom počnu nenormalno trzati, nakon čega nastaju smetnje tako da Dan ne vidi što se događa, nego samo čuje iskrivljeno režanje.

Vrhunac horora slijedi kad se od smetnji stvori neko demonsko lice, što će Danu biti toliko traumatično da će usnuti košmar s rukom koja izlazi iz ekrana.

Svaka iduća pogledana vrpca budi sve veću misteriju, zavjeru i paranoju kad dovede Dana do "creepy shit" otkrića o postojanju nekakvog kulta, drugog svijeta/druge dimenzije, natprirodnih događaja i tome slično, te doslovce ispreplete njegov put s Melodynim kad se spoji vrijeme i prostor.

Kao što to obično biva, serija je znatno bolja dok postavlja misteriju nego kad je počne (raz)riješavati, a čak je i uputnije da se epizode gledaju ponaosob, nego odjednom u "bindžerskom" stilu s obzirom na trajanje/sporiji ritam izlaganja, slično kao "Midnight Mass".

"Arhiv 81" previše toga želi otkriti umjesto da ostavi neka pitanja neodgovorenima ili dubioznima. No, neovisno o tome serija se uglavnom gleda s intrigom, a i ima pamtljivu završnu scenu.

Dakako, scenu nećemo otkriti, ali možemo zapisati da podjednako dobro funkcionira kao dvosmisleni kraj priče i navlakuša za potencijalnu drugu sezonu.

Misterija, horor i triler pogonsko su gorivo nove Netflixove serije "Arhiv 81" kreatorice Rebecce Sonnenshine ("The Boys") na kojoj su redateljski obol, među ostalima, dali Rebecca Thomas ("Stranger Things") i Haifaa Al-Mansour ("Wadjda"), a prpoducirao ju je James Wan (serijal "Prizivanja", "Zloćudno").
