Dva su se stripa smatrala teško snimljivima u formi filma ili serije – "Watchmen" Alana Moorea i "The Sandman" Neila Gaimana, oba iz druge polovine osamdesetih i u izdanju DC-ja. Kad je "Watchmen" dobio dojmljivu filmsku, pa i serijsku ekranizaciju (2009., 2019.), bio je to znak da bi se napokon mogao adaptirati i "Sandman".

"Napokon", jer plan za adaptaciju seže godinama unatrag i mnogi su pokušavali preseliti "Sandmana" od stripa do velikog ili malog ekrana, među ostalim i James Mangold i Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Stvari su se pomaknule s mrtve točke kad je Netflix, baš 2019., kupio prava za ekranizaciju "Sandmana" u obliku prestižne desetodijelne serije.

Šarolika ekipa glumaca

Netflix je odriješio kesu za veliki budžet od 165 milijuna dolara, manji od filmova "Sivi čovjek" i "Crvena tjeralica", ali jedan od najvećih kad su u pitanju serije. Ispred kamere je okupljena šarolika ekipa, od manje poznatih do poznatih glumaca, a najbolji dojam ostavljaju Boyd Holbrook kao Korinćanin i David Thewlis kao John Dee, koji su "pojeli" većinski mlakog Toma Sturridgea u glavnoj ulozi.

Iza kamere je, pak, okupljen iskusan tim ekranizatora stripova, Davida S. Goyera (scenarist trilogije "Blade" i "Vitez tame") i Allana Heinberga (koscenarist "Wonder Woman"), koji su se s Gaimanom osobno udružili kao kreatori serije, a jednu od epizoda režirala je darovita Francuskinja Coralie Fargeat ("Osveta").

Gaiman je doživio uspone i padove s adaptacijama svojih djela na filmu ("Zvjezdana prašina", "Koralina i tajna ogledala") i televiziji ("American Gods", "Good Omens"). "Sandman" svakako popravlja prosjek. Serija, osobno, nije remek-djelo, kako joj neki strani kolege tepaju, kao što to nije ni film "Prey", premijerno pušten također prošlog vikenda i još više hvaljen.

No za aktualne TV standarde "Sandman: Kralj snova" nedvojbeno je izvanserijski ambiciozan i iznadprosječno kvalitetan, koliko god bio neujednačen i razvučen kao mnoge serije dok pripovijeda priču o nadrealnim putešestvijama titularnog lika zvanog San i Morpheus, kralja snova i noćnih mora te vladara carstva Snovitosti, nakon što se oslobodi iz zatočeništva ljudi.

Pohvalno je da se "Sandman" ne dodvorava recentnim fantazijskim trendovima malog ekrana za mlađu publiku ("Carnival Row", "His Dark Materials", "Witcher", "Shadow and Bone", "Cursed", "Locke&Key", "The Irregulars"...) i to je jasno ubrzo nakon što narator u epskom, vizualno atraktivnom uvodu serije krene s pripovijedanjem i kaže: "Počinjemo u svijetu budnih..."

Constantine kao žena

Netko bi od gledatelja mogao usnuti "fantasy" spektakl po mjeri "Igre prijestolja", posebice kad vide da se u glumačkoj ekipi nalazi i Gwendoline Christie (Brienne u "GOT-u", ovdje kao Lucifer Morningstar). Ipak, ništa od toga, "Kralj snova" ostaje dosljedan stripu i umjereno je komercijalan.

Fantazijska akcija je minimalna i lišena je mača i magije, seksa i golotinje nema, a slatke životinjice, kakve krase serijal "Čudesne zvijeri", svedene su na jednu malu vodorigu, jer ne treba računati na gavrana koji govori (glas Pattona Oswalta), koji baš i nije simpatičan.

Ono što je u filmu trendovsko jest oslanjanje na "woke" kulturu i širenje DC-jeva svemira s referencijama na likove poput Johna Constantinea ("Poznavao sam jednog Constatinea, ali to je bilo prije 300 godina") koji je sada postao žena – Johanna (Jenna Coleman). Međutim, takve stvari nisu dominanta serije primjereno stripovski epizodične strukture koja se vjerno drži predloška, na trenutke čak i prevjerno, od riječi do riječi, što znade ubiti ritam.

Treba neko vrijeme da "Sandman" postane protočniji i to se događa u drugoj, boljoj polovini, kad gledatelj biva nagrađen za strpljenje, onaj koji je već u prvoj epizodi znao u što se otprilike upušta. Posljednjih nekoliko epizoda serije proširuju svemir "Sandmana" i otvaraju vrata snova budućih sezona. Jer "snovi ne umiru". "Čeka vas još jedan život kad zatvorite oči i uđete u moje carstvo", kaže Kralj snova.

Dva su se stripa smatrala teško snimljivima u formi filma ili serije – "Watchmen" Alana Moorea i "The Sandman" Neila Gaimana, oba iz druge polovine osamdesetih i u izdanju DC-ja. Kad je "Watchmen" dobio dojmljivu filmsku, pa i serijsku ekranizaciju (2009., 2019.), bio je to znak da bi se napokon mogao adaptirati i "Sandman".

"Napokon", jer plan za adaptaciju seže godinama unatrag i mnogi su pokušavali preseliti "Sandmana" od stripa do velikog ili malog ekrana, među ostalim i James Mangold i Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Stvari su se pomaknule s mrtve točke kad je Netflix, baš 2019., kupio prava za ekranizaciju "Sandmana" u obliku prestižne desetodijelne serije.

Šarolika ekipa glumaca

Netflix je odriješio kesu za veliki budžet od 165 milijuna dolara, manji od filmova "Sivi čovjek" i "Crvena tjeralica", ali jedan od najvećih kad su u pitanju serije. Ispred kamere je okupljena šarolika ekipa, od manje poznatih do poznatih glumaca, a najbolji dojam ostavljaju Boyd Holbrook kao Korinćanin i David Thewlis kao John Dee, koji su "pojeli" većinski mlakog Toma Sturridgea u glavnoj ulozi.

Iza kamere je, pak, okupljen iskusan tim ekranizatora stripova, Davida S. Goyera (scenarist trilogije "Blade" i "Vitez tame") i Allana Heinberga (koscenarist "Wonder Woman"), koji su se s Gaimanom osobno udružili kao kreatori serije, a jednu od epizoda režirala je darovita Francuskinja Coralie Fargeat ("Osveta").

Gaiman je doživio uspone i padove s adaptacijama svojih djela na filmu ("Zvjezdana prašina", "Koralina i tajna ogledala") i televiziji ("American Gods", "Good Omens"). "Sandman" svakako popravlja prosjek. Serija, osobno, nije remek-djelo, kako joj neki strani kolege tepaju, kao što to nije ni film "Prey", premijerno pušten također prošlog vikenda i još više hvaljen.

No za aktualne TV standarde "Sandman: Kralj snova" nedvojbeno je izvanserijski ambiciozan i iznadprosječno kvalitetan, koliko god bio neujednačen i razvučen kao mnoge serije dok pripovijeda priču o nadrealnim putešestvijama titularnog lika zvanog San i Morpheus, kralja snova i noćnih mora te vladara carstva Snovitosti, nakon što se oslobodi iz zatočeništva ljudi.

Pohvalno je da se "Sandman" ne dodvorava recentnim fantazijskim trendovima malog ekrana za mlađu publiku ("Carnival Row", "His Dark Materials", "Witcher", "Shadow and Bone", "Cursed", "Locke&Key", "The Irregulars"...) i to je jasno ubrzo nakon što narator u epskom, vizualno atraktivnom uvodu serije krene s pripovijedanjem i kaže: "Počinjemo u svijetu budnih..."

Constantine kao žena

Netko bi od gledatelja mogao usnuti "fantasy" spektakl po mjeri "Igre prijestolja", posebice kad vide da se u glumačkoj ekipi nalazi i Gwendoline Christie (Brienne u "GOT-u", ovdje kao Lucifer Morningstar). Ipak, ništa od toga, "Kralj snova" ostaje dosljedan stripu i umjereno je komercijalan.

Fantazijska akcija je minimalna i lišena je mača i magije, seksa i golotinje nema, a slatke životinjice, kakve krase serijal "Čudesne zvijeri", svedene su na jednu malu vodorigu, jer ne treba računati na gavrana koji govori (glas Pattona Oswalta), koji baš i nije simpatičan.

Ono što je u filmu trendovsko jest oslanjanje na "woke" kulturu i širenje DC-jeva svemira s referencijama na likove poput Johna Constantinea ("Poznavao sam jednog Constatinea, ali to je bilo prije 300 godina") koji je sada postao žena – Johanna (Jenna Coleman). Međutim, takve stvari nisu dominanta serije primjereno stripovski epizodične strukture koja se vjerno drži predloška, na trenutke čak i prevjerno, od riječi do riječi, što znade ubiti ritam.

Treba neko vrijeme da "Sandman" postane protočniji i to se događa u drugoj, boljoj polovini, kad gledatelj biva nagrađen za strpljenje, onaj koji je već u prvoj epizodi znao u što se otprilike upušta. Posljednjih nekoliko epizoda serije proširuju svemir "Sandmana" i otvaraju vrata snova budućih sezona. Jer "snovi ne umiru". "Čeka vas još jedan život kad zatvorite oči i uđete u moje carstvo", kaže Kralj snova.
