Da prije puno godina mama Zdravka nije greškom nazvala veslački klub, Hrvatska danas vjerojatno ne bi imala jedne od svojih najboljih sportaša svih vremena. Braća Valent i Martin Sinković u Tokiju su uzeli treću uzastopnu olimpijsku medalju i drugu zlatnu i to u trećoj različitoj disciplini, što nije pošlo nikome prije njih u veslačkom svijetu.

Kako to inače biva s biografijama sportskih ikona, i priča braće Sinković krije mnoge zanimljivosti i nevjerojatne elemente. U ovom slučaju glavna je stvar ta da su čamac i veslo u njihove živote ušli skroz slučajno. Nisu ni trebali ući. Ali jesu. Sve je započelo pogrešnim telefonskim pozivom mame Zdravke. Naime, najstariji brat Matija htio se upisati u kajak-kanu klub, no majka je umjesto tog kluba okrenula broj veslačkog kluba. Matija se tako upisao na veslanje, a nedugo zatim priključila su mu se oba brata. Prvo Martin, pa onda i Valent. Iako nisu bili nešto "ludi" za tim sportom nego su primarno išli tamo gdje ide brat.

Prethodno se Martin kao dijete bavio vaterpolom u zagrebačkoj Mladosti, iako je prema vlastitim riječima puno bolje plivao nego igrao, dok je Valent šest godina bio u nogometu. Igrao je lijevog beka u Zagrebu, Hrvatskom dragovoljcu i Lokomotivi. Kaže kako je bio standardan, ali da nije bio pretjerano talentiran. Nakon jedne ozljede otac Darko savjetovao mu je promjenu sporta. Nije Valentu bilo drago isprve, bilo mu je žao ostaviti nogomet, ali je ipak poslušao savjet i pridružio se braći na veslanju.

S vremenom je, u tinejdžerskim godinama, Matija odustao od veslanja. Počele su ga privlačiti neke druge stvari poput izlazaka i nije bio spreman odricati se toliko za ozbiljnu karijeru veslača. Iskreno će reći i kako nikada nije bio na razini Martina i Valenta koji su za razliku od njega nastavili s veslanjem i "zapeli" još više. Njima odricanja, pravilna prehrana i disciplina iz dana u dan nisu predstavljali problem.

I eto, sve ostalo je kako volimo kazati povijest. Hvala mami što je pogriješila, bila joj je to najslađa pogreška u životu. Pogreška koja to, pokazat će se, ustvari i nije bila.

Da prije puno godina mama Zdravka nije greškom nazvala veslački klub, Hrvatska danas vjerojatno ne bi imala jedne od svojih najboljih sportaša svih vremena. Braća Valent i Martin Sinković u Tokiju su uzeli treću uzastopnu olimpijsku medalju i drugu zlatnu i to u trećoj različitoj disciplini, što nije pošlo nikome prije njih u veslačkom svijetu.

Kako to inače biva s biografijama sportskih ikona, i priča braće Sinković krije mnoge zanimljivosti i nevjerojatne elemente. U ovom slučaju glavna je stvar ta da su čamac i veslo u njihove živote ušli skroz slučajno. Nisu ni trebali ući. Ali jesu. Sve je započelo pogrešnim telefonskim pozivom mame Zdravke. Naime, najstariji brat Matija htio se upisati u kajak-kanu klub, no majka je umjesto tog kluba okrenula broj veslačkog kluba. Matija se tako upisao na veslanje, a nedugo zatim priključila su mu se oba brata. Prvo Martin, pa onda i Valent. Iako nisu bili nešto "ludi" za tim sportom nego su primarno išli tamo gdje ide brat.

Prethodno se Martin kao dijete bavio vaterpolom u zagrebačkoj Mladosti, iako je prema vlastitim riječima puno bolje plivao nego igrao, dok je Valent šest godina bio u nogometu. Igrao je lijevog beka u Zagrebu, Hrvatskom dragovoljcu i Lokomotivi. Kaže kako je bio standardan, ali da nije bio pretjerano talentiran. Nakon jedne ozljede otac Darko savjetovao mu je promjenu sporta. Nije Valentu bilo drago isprve, bilo mu je žao ostaviti nogomet, ali je ipak poslušao savjet i pridružio se braći na veslanju.

S vremenom je, u tinejdžerskim godinama, Matija odustao od veslanja. Počele su ga privlačiti neke druge stvari poput izlazaka i nije bio spreman odricati se toliko za ozbiljnu karijeru veslača. Iskreno će reći i kako nikada nije bio na razini Martina i Valenta koji su za razliku od njega nastavili s veslanjem i "zapeli" još više. Njima odricanja, pravilna prehrana i disciplina iz dana u dan nisu predstavljali problem.

I eto, sve ostalo je kako volimo kazati povijest. Hvala mami što je pogriješila, bila joj je to najslađa pogreška u životu. Pogreška koja to, pokazat će se, ustvari i nije bila.

Braća Sinković u veslanje su upali – slučajno: Martin je igrao vaterpolo, Valent nogomet, a na Jarun su došli za starijim bratom Matijom

Da prije puno godina mama Zdravka nije greškom nazvala veslački klub, Hrvatska danas vjerojatno ne bi imala jedne od svojih najboljih sportaša svih vremena. Braća Valent i Martin Sinković u Tokiju su uzeli treću uzastopnu olimpijsku medalju i drugu zlatnu i to u trećoj različitoj disciplini, što nije pošlo nikome prije njih u veslačkom svijetu.

Kako to inače biva s biografijama sportskih ikona, i priča braće Sinković krije mnoge zanimljivosti i nevjerojatne elemente. U ovom slučaju glavna je stvar ta da su čamac i veslo u njihove živote ušli skroz slučajno. Nisu ni trebali ući. Ali jesu. Sve je započelo pogrešnim telefonskim pozivom mame Zdravke. Naime, najstariji brat Matija htio se upisati u kajak-kanu klub, no majka je umjesto tog kluba okrenula broj veslačkog kluba. Matija...
