Košarkaški, sportski Split oplakuje još jedan veliki gubitak. Kao šok iz vedra neba stigla je vijest da je u 59. godini života od posljedica srčanog udara preminula legenda Košarkaškog kluba Split, nekadašnje Jugoplastike Goran Sobin.

Sobin je bio jedan od ključnih igrača „žutih” u zlatnim vremenima velikana s Gripa, kada je klub pod nazivom Jugoplastika vladao Europom. Sudjelovao je u osvajanju dva naslova prvaka Europe, tri naslova prvaka Jugoslavije, dok kasnije, 1990. godine karijeru nije nastavio u tada moćnom grčkom Arisu s Nikosom Galisom, Panagiotisom Giannakisom... Potom je igrao za Cibonu s kojom je dominirao u Hrvatskoj, za Zagreb. Prije završetka karijere u španjolskom Taugresu u 33. godini legendaran je status stekao među navijačima Alkara. U njegovo vrijeme upisali su Sinjani prvu pobjedu u povijesti nad Cibonom. Druga je stigla tek ove sezone.

Bio je važan kotač moćne Jugoplastike. A najbolji je gotovo u pravilu bio kada je bilo najvažnije, u ključnim utakmicama, finalima. Pamti se njegova spektakularna predstava u pobjedi na Sv. Duju nad Partizanom na prepunim Gripama koja je Splićanima donijela naslov prvaka Jugoslavije 1988. godine i otvorila put ka višegodišnjoj dominaciji u tadašnjoj državi, ali i u Europi. U toj trećoj utakmici finala, u uvjerljivoj pobjedi 88:67 na Gripama prije velike fešte koja je uslijedila, Sobin je zabio čak 28 koševa! A kako je odigrao u finalu Kupa prvaka godinu kasnije kada se Jugoplastika prvi put popela na krov Europe slavljem nad moćnim Maccabijem 75:69, kako je zaustavio snažne centre „ponosa Izraela”, govorio je jednom prilikom Sobinovom velikom prijatelju Miloradu Bibiću Mosoru za „Slobodnu Dalmaciju” tadašnji trener „žutih” Božo Maljković.

- Maccabi je veliki klub, tu nema dileme. Ali, zato sam još više ponosniji na našu obranu, dali su nam samo 69 koševa... Obrana je naš najjači adut, naša sjajna igra u obrani nije slučajnost.... Sobin je otkriće finala. On je specifičan slučaj, nema Kukočev i Rađin talent, ali je malo takvih heroja. On je odan i vjeran kad je najteže i mi treneri volimo takve igrače. Uhvati i njega ponekad fjaka, ali kad se probudi, pravi je lav.

Lav je zaspao. Nažalost zauvijek. Ali ostat će zauvijek u našim srcima. Veliki igrač i još veći čovjek. Možda je tako i najbolje opisati tog dobrodušnog diva koji je nekako ipak uvijek ostao nezasluženo u drugom planu, dijelom i jer je sam to više tako volio. Zato ga i nije bilo baš u javnosti proteklih godina. A jednom prilikom, kada je potpisniku ovih redaka otvorio dušu prije 12 godina, govorio je.

- Velike utakmice su me posebno motivirale i za njih sam se uvijek posebno pripremao. Izgubiš li finale, tko će te spominjati?...

A čovjek za finala kako smo mu tepali, prisjetio se tog finala i tada senzacionalne pobjede nad Maccabijem, dočeka pred 150 tisuća ljudi.

- Govorilo se da su Mercer i Magee najjači centarski par Europe... Na dočeku po povratku od ljudi nismo mogli proći kroz Kaštela pa smo morali uz pratnju vojske magistralom do Splita. Žao mi je samo toga što nismo mogli proći kroz moja Kaštela – pričao nam je Sobin.

Supruga Đana bila je košarkašica Jugoplastike. Goranov sin Josip nastavio je njegovim košarkaškim stopama. Nakon Splita, Trogira, Zadra, karijeru je nastavio u inozemstvu, Španjolskoj, Italiji, Poljskoj (nekoliko klubova). I kći Ana je završila u sportu, u odbojci. Krv definitivno nije voda. 

Sobinova velika ljubav bili su ribolov i zemlja, uživanje u plodovima svoga rada, didovini u Kaštel Kambelovcu. Otići u ribe (s prijateljima), uzgajati pome, masline, krumpire... Negdje gore valjda idu sad ponovno zajedno Mosor i Sobin u ribe...

Košarkaški, sportski Split oplakuje još jedan veliki gubitak. Kao šok iz vedra neba stigla je vijest da je u 59. godini života od posljedica srčanog udara preminula legenda Košarkaškog kluba Split, nekadašnje Jugoplastike Goran Sobin.

Sobin je bio jedan od ključnih igrača „žutih” u zlatnim vremenima velikana s Gripa, kada je klub pod nazivom Jugoplastika vladao Europom. Sudjelovao je u osvajanju dva naslova prvaka Europe, tri naslova prvaka Jugoslavije, dok kasnije, 1990. godine karijeru nije nastavio u tada moćnom grčkom Arisu s Nikosom Galisom, Panagiotisom Giannakisom... Potom je igrao za Cibonu s kojom je dominirao u Hrvatskoj, za Zagreb. Prije završetka karijere u španjolskom Taugresu u 33. godini legendaran je status stekao među navijačima Alkara. U njegovo vrijeme upisali su Sinjani prvu pobjedu u povijesti nad Cibonom. Druga je stigla tek ove sezone.

Bio je važan kotač moćne Jugoplastike. A najbolji je gotovo u pravilu bio kada je bilo najvažnije, u ključnim utakmicama, finalima. Pamti se njegova spektakularna predstava u pobjedi na Sv. Duju nad Partizanom na prepunim Gripama koja je Splićanima donijela naslov prvaka Jugoslavije 1988. godine i otvorila put ka višegodišnjoj dominaciji u tadašnjoj državi, ali i u Europi. U toj trećoj utakmici finala, u uvjerljivoj pobjedi 88:67 na Gripama prije velike fešte koja je uslijedila, Sobin je zabio čak 28 koševa! A kako je odigrao u finalu Kupa prvaka godinu kasnije kada se Jugoplastika prvi put popela na krov Europe slavljem nad moćnim Maccabijem 75:69, kako je zaustavio snažne centre „ponosa Izraela”, govorio je jednom prilikom Sobinovom velikom prijatelju Miloradu Bibiću Mosoru za „Slobodnu Dalmaciju” tadašnji trener „žutih” Božo Maljković.

- Maccabi je veliki klub, tu nema dileme. Ali, zato sam još više ponosniji na našu obranu, dali su nam samo 69 koševa... Obrana je naš najjači adut, naša sjajna igra u obrani nije slučajnost.... Sobin je otkriće finala. On je specifičan slučaj, nema Kukočev i Rađin talent, ali je malo takvih heroja. On je odan i vjeran kad je najteže i mi treneri volimo takve igrače. Uhvati i njega ponekad fjaka, ali kad se probudi, pravi je lav.

Lav je zaspao. Nažalost zauvijek. Ali ostat će zauvijek u našim srcima. Veliki igrač i još veći čovjek. Možda je tako i najbolje opisati tog dobrodušnog diva koji je nekako ipak uvijek ostao nezasluženo u drugom planu, dijelom i jer je sam to više tako volio. Zato ga i nije bilo baš u javnosti proteklih godina. A jednom prilikom, kada je potpisniku ovih redaka otvorio dušu prije 12 godina, govorio je.

- Velike utakmice su me posebno motivirale i za njih sam se uvijek posebno pripremao. Izgubiš li finale, tko će te spominjati?...

A čovjek za finala kako smo mu tepali, prisjetio se tog finala i tada senzacionalne pobjede nad Maccabijem, dočeka pred 150 tisuća ljudi.

- Govorilo se da su Mercer i Magee najjači centarski par Europe... Na dočeku po povratku od ljudi nismo mogli proći kroz Kaštela pa smo morali uz pratnju vojske magistralom do Splita. Žao mi je samo toga što nismo mogli proći kroz moja Kaštela – pričao nam je Sobin.

Supruga Đana bila je košarkašica Jugoplastike. Goranov sin Josip nastavio je njegovim košarkaškim stopama. Nakon Splita, Trogira, Zadra, karijeru je nastavio u inozemstvu, Španjolskoj, Italiji, Poljskoj (nekoliko klubova). I kći Ana je završila u sportu, u odbojci. Krv definitivno nije voda. 

Sobinova velika ljubav bili su ribolov i zemlja, uživanje u plodovima svoga rada, didovini u Kaštel Kambelovcu. Otići u ribe (s prijateljima), uzgajati pome, masline, krumpire... Negdje gore valjda idu sad ponovno zajedno Mosor i Sobin u ribe...

Košarkaški, sportski Split oplakuje još jedan veliki gubitak. Kao šok iz vedra neba stigla je vijest da je u 59. godini života od posljedica srčanog udara preminula legenda Košarkaškog kluba Split, nekadašnje Jugoplastike Goran Sobin.

Sobin je bio jedan od ključnih igrača „žutih” u zlatnim vremenima velikana s Gripa, kada je klub pod nazivom Jugoplastika vladao Europom. Sudjelovao je u osvajanju dva naslova prvaka Europe, tri naslova prvaka Jugoslavije, dok kasnije, 1990. godine karijeru nije nastavio u tada moćnom grčkom Arisu s Nikosom Galisom, Panagiotisom Giannakisom...
