Alfa-gal možda zvuči super, ali zapravo je riječ o skraćenici za galaktoza-alfa-1,3 - galaktoza. Riječ je o molekuli šećera koja bi mogla biti razlog alergije na meso. Odakle ona? Od krpelja. Za sad ne od svih, nego samo od onog imena Amblyomma americanum.

Nova studija Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti otkrila je da se broj sumnjivih slučajeva u Sjedinjenim Državama znatno povećao od 2010. godine, a neki su identificirani u državama koje obično nisu poznate kao mjesta na kojima ove krvopije žive. Već je dovoljno loša vijest da nekoga ugrize krpelj, no sada je sve postalo još gore.

- Hodate šumom i za vas se zakači krpelj koji je upravo bio na nekom sisavcu. On, koji nosi alfa-gal, ugrize vas i aktivira vaš imunološki sustav protiv alergija - kaže za National Geographic Cosby Stone sa Sveučilišta Vanderbilt a prenosi Jutarnji.

Od toga tijelo stvara alfa-gal antitijela i, od tog trenutka nadalje, tijelo je osposobljeno za borbu protiv alfa-gal molekula šećera. Većina ljudi koji razviju alfa-gal sindrom (AGS) shvaćaju što se dogodilo tek nakon što pojedu meso, koje je prepuno alfa-gala. Šećer je također prisutan u nekim lijekovima koji koriste želatine kao stabilizatore.

Kašnjenje u reakciji

- Postoji vremensko kašnjenje u reakciji. On (alfa-gal) prvo mora proći kroz gastrointestinalni trakt da bi se oslobodio. Satima kasnije pacijenti se bude s koprivnjačom, otežanim dahom, povraćanjem i proljevom - pojašnjava Stone i dodaje kako su neki pacijenti završili u bolnici, jer im je krvni tlak bio toliko nizak da su bili u životnoj opasnosti.

U prvo vrijeme nakon ugriza, kaže, većina ljudi ne zna što se događa. Odjednom imaju alergijske reakcije i treba im neko vrijeme da povežu hranu s izbijanjem bolesti.

Izvorno pronađena na jugoistoku SAD-a, bolest bi mogla postati češća u sjevernijim i zapadnijim regijama koje doživljavaju visoke temperature. Dok prvi slučajevi nisu otkriveni prije desetak godina, nije se mnogo znalo o porijeklu ove alergije na meso.

Ljudi sve češće dolaze u kontakt s krpeljima tijekom toplijeg vremena, a Stone preporučuje zaštitu od alpha-gala na isti način na koji se sprječavaju druge bolesti koje prenose krpelji: koristite repelent za insekte, prethodno tretirajte odjeću i izbjegavajte visoku travu i grmlje.

Alfa-gal možda zvuči super, ali zapravo je riječ o skraćenici za galaktoza-alfa-1,3 - galaktoza. Riječ je o molekuli šećera koja bi mogla biti razlog alergije na meso. Odakle ona? Od krpelja. Za sad ne od svih, nego samo od onog imena Amblyomma americanum.

Nova studija Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti otkrila je da se broj sumnjivih slučajeva u Sjedinjenim Državama znatno povećao od 2010. godine, a neki su identificirani u državama koje obično nisu poznate kao mjesta na kojima ove krvopije žive. Već je dovoljno loša vijest da nekoga ugrize krpelj, no sada je sve postalo još gore.

- Hodate šumom i za vas se zakači krpelj koji je upravo bio na nekom sisavcu. On, koji nosi alfa-gal, ugrize vas i aktivira vaš imunološki sustav protiv alergija - kaže za National Geographic Cosby Stone sa Sveučilišta Vanderbilt a prenosi Jutarnji.

Od toga tijelo stvara alfa-gal antitijela i, od tog trenutka nadalje, tijelo je osposobljeno za borbu protiv alfa-gal molekula šećera. Većina ljudi koji razviju alfa-gal sindrom (AGS) shvaćaju što se dogodilo tek nakon što pojedu meso, koje je prepuno alfa-gala. Šećer je također prisutan u nekim lijekovima koji koriste želatine kao stabilizatore.

Kašnjenje u reakciji

- Postoji vremensko kašnjenje u reakciji. On (alfa-gal) prvo mora proći kroz gastrointestinalni trakt da bi se oslobodio. Satima kasnije pacijenti se bude s koprivnjačom, otežanim dahom, povraćanjem i proljevom - pojašnjava Stone i dodaje kako su neki pacijenti završili u bolnici, jer im je krvni tlak bio toliko nizak da su bili u životnoj opasnosti.

U prvo vrijeme nakon ugriza, kaže, većina ljudi ne zna što se događa. Odjednom imaju alergijske reakcije i treba im neko vrijeme da povežu hranu s izbijanjem bolesti.

Izvorno pronađena na jugoistoku SAD-a, bolest bi mogla postati češća u sjevernijim i zapadnijim regijama koje doživljavaju visoke temperature. Dok prvi slučajevi nisu otkriveni prije desetak godina, nije se mnogo znalo o porijeklu ove alergije na meso.

Ljudi sve češće dolaze u kontakt s krpeljima tijekom toplijeg vremena, a Stone preporučuje zaštitu od alpha-gala na isti način na koji se sprječavaju druge bolesti koje prenose krpelji: koristite repelent za insekte, prethodno tretirajte odjeću i izbjegavajte visoku travu i grmlje.

Sve je više krpelja zbog kojih ljudi postaju alergični na - meso! Nakon ugriza, ljudi nisu niti svjesni što se događa

Alfa-gal možda zvuči super, ali zapravo je riječ o skraćenici za galaktoza-alfa-1,3 - galaktoza. Riječ je o molekuli šećera koja bi mogla biti razlog alergije na meso. Odakle ona? Od krpelja. Za sad ne od svih, nego samo od onog imena Amblyomma americanum.

Nova studija Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti otkrila je da se broj sumnjivih slučajeva u Sjedinjenim Državama znatno povećao od 2010. godine, a neki su identificirani u državama koje obično nisu poznate kao mjesta na kojima ove krvopije žive. Već je dovoljno loša vijest da nekoga ugrize krpelj, no sada je sve postalo još gore.

- Hodate šumom i za vas se zakači krpelj koji je upravo bio na nekom sisavcu. On, koji nosi alfa-gal, ugrize vas i aktivira vaš imunološki sustav protiv alergija - kaže za National Geographic Cosby Stone sa Sveučilišta Vanderbilt a prenosi Jutarnji.

Od toga tijelo stvara alfa-gal antitijela i, od tog trenutka nadalje, tijelo je osposobljeno za borbu protiv alfa-gal molekula šećera. Većina ljudi koji razviju alfa-gal sindrom (AGS) shvaćaju što se dogodilo tek nakon što pojedu meso, koje je prepuno alfa-gala. Šećer je također prisutan u nekim lijekovima koji koriste želatine kao stabilizatore.

Kašnjenje u reakciji

- Postoji vremensko kašnjenje u reakciji. On (alfa-gal) prvo mora proći kroz gastrointestinalni trakt da bi se oslobodio. Satima kasnije pacijenti se bude s koprivnjačom, otežanim dahom, povraćanjem i proljevom - pojašnjava Stone i dodaje kako su neki pacijenti završili u bolnici, jer im je krvni tlak bio toliko nizak da su bili u životnoj opasnosti.

U prvo vrijeme nakon ugriza, kaže, većina ljudi ne zna što se događa. Odjednom imaju alergijske reakcije i treba im neko vrijeme da povežu hranu s izbijanjem bolesti.

Izvorno pronađena na jugoistoku SAD-a, bolest bi mogla postati češća u sjevernijim i zapadnijim regijama koje doživljavaju visoke temperature. Dok prvi slučajevi nisu otkriveni prije desetak godina, nije se mnogo znalo o porijeklu ove alergije na meso.

Ljudi sve češće dolaze u kontakt s krpeljima tijekom toplijeg vremena, a Stone preporučuje zaštitu od alpha-gala na isti način na koji se sprječavaju druge bolesti koje prenose krpelji: koristite repelent za insekte, prethodno tretirajte odjeću i izbjegavajte visoku travu i grmlje.
