Bijela riža
Istraživači su otkrili da će bijela (ili polirana) riža zadržati svoj sadržaj hranjivih sastojaka i okusa tijekom 30 godina kada se čuva u posudama bez kisika na temperaturama nižim od pet Celzijevih stupnjeva. Smeđa riža, međutim, ne traje tako dugo (šest mjeseci) zbog prirodnih ulja koja se nalaze u njezinoj ovojnici.
Med
Med je jedina namirnica koja uistinu traje vječno, zahvaljujući čarobnoj kemiji i ručnom radu pčela. Nektar iz cvjetova miješa se s enzimima koje pčele izlučuju, a to mijenja sastav nektara i razgrađuje ga na jednostavne šećere koji se talože u saće. Prerada meda dodaje još dulji rok trajanja. Sol

Umak od soje

Sada više nego ikada razmišljate o tome koje namirnice kupiti da bi zadržale svoju nutritivnu vrijednost dulje vrijeme, kako ne biste morali često u trgovinu dok traje izolacija zbog epidemije koronavirusa. Oni koji se inače vole ponašati kao hrčak sve to već imaju kod kuće, a neki su bez iskustva u ovom području pa ćemo im otkriti kojim namirnicama nikada, ili gotovo nikada, ne istječe rok trajanja.

Bijela riža
Istraživači su otkrili da će bijela (ili polirana) riža zadržati svoj sadržaj hranjivih sastojaka i okusa tijekom 30 godina kada se čuva u posudama bez kisika na temperaturama nižim od pet Celzijevih stupnjeva. Smeđa riža, međutim, ne traje tako dugo (šest mjeseci) zbog prirodnih ulja koja se nalaze u njezinoj ovojnici.
Med
Med je jedina namirnica koja uistinu traje vječno, zahvaljujući čarobnoj kemiji i ručnom radu pčela. Nektar iz cvjetova miješa se s enzimima koje pčele izlučuju, a to mijenja sastav nektara i razgrađuje ga na jednostavne šećere koji se talože u saće. Prerada meda dodaje još dulji rok trajanja. Šećeri u medu su higroskopni, što znači da povlače vlagu iz zraka. Kada se zagrijani i pročišćeni med pravilno zatvori, vlaga se ne može apsorbirati, a med ostaje zauvijek isti. Smatra se da je najstarija staklenka meda ikad pronađena stara 5500 godina.

Sol
S obzirom da je natrijev klorid mineral koji nam daje majka Zemlja, njegova postojanost ne bi trebala biti iznenađenje. Također se stoljećima koristi kao alat za očuvanje druge hrane, jer uklanja vlagu. Ipak, sol u vašem ormaru možda neće trajati zauvijek. Dodavanjem joda u kuhinjsku sol smanjuje joj se rok trajanja, pa ako na vašoj kutiji ili vrećici piše jodirana sol, očekujte da traje samo oko pet godina.
Umak od soje
Čini se da trajanje ovisi o vrsti i aditivima koje određeni proizvođač koristi, ali ako se umak čuva neotvoren, umak od soje trajat će vrlo dugo. Čak i nakon što je otvoren, ovaj slani začin može godinama ostati u vašem hladnjaku.
Šećer
Kao i kod ostalih namirnica na ovom popisu, način skladištenja šećera određuje možete li ga sačuvati zauvijek. Šećer u prahu i granulirani šećer najbolje je čuvati u hermetički zatvorenim posudama kako bi se sačuvao od vlage. Trgovci na malo moraju utisnuti datume na vreće šećera, ali proizvođači tvrde da je čak i očvrsnuti smeđi šećer jestiv nakon što ga se omekša.

Sušeni grah
Istraživači sa sveučilišta Brigham Young otkrili su da se nakon 30 godina ukupna kvaliteta pinto graha nije smanjila, ali najmanje 80 posto potrošača smatra da su svi uzorci prihvatljivi za upotrebu u kriznim situacijama. Također je utvrđeno da probavljivost proteina s protekom vremena ostaje stabilna.
Čisti javorov sirup
U Vodiču za skladištenje hrane za hitne slučajeve na Državnom sveučilištu Utah navodi se da čisti javorov sirup, zajedno s drugim komercijalnim šećerima (poput meda i granuliranih šećera), ima neograničen rok trajanja "zbog otpornosti na rast mikroba, uključujući plijesni".
