MeToo pokret imao je čak tri udarna prošlogodišnja filmska predstavnika – “She Said”, “Call Jane” i “Women Talking”. Zakon velikih brojeva nalagao je da će se barem jedan od njih, zbog velikog utjecaja pokreta, naći u utrci za Oscara. Očekivalo se da bi to mogao biti najbolji film u ovom društvu “Ona je rekla”, posebice što se tiče žena koje su istupile protiv kontroverznog producenta Harveyja Weinsteina i prokazale ga kao seksualnog zlostavljača.

Možda čak i “Nazovi Jane” s obzirom koliko je pobačaj kao tema filmski (“Nikad, rijetko, ponekad, uvijek”, “Događaj”) i društveno-politički aktualan (odjeci odluke američkog Vrhovnog suda u vezi abortusa). Jane na kraju nije nitko nazvao od članova Akademije. Ni “ona” nije rekla “Oscar”, ali žene jesu. Žene govore. “Women Talking”.

U konačnici je “Women Walking” nominiran u kategoriji najboljeg filma, a i osvojio je još jednu važnu nominaciju, onu za adaptirani scenarij.

Naime, “Women Talking” je adaptacija istoimena romana kanadske spisateljice Miriam Toews koja se, pak, za pisanje inspirirala istinitom pričom iz patrijarhalne menonitske zajednice u Boliviji između 2005. i 2009. godine.

U tom četverogodišnjem periodu bogobojazni lokalni muškarci drogirali su i silovali 150 žena. Odatle i kreće film redateljice Sarah Polley (superiorniji "Away From Her"), od jedne onesviještene i silovane žene iz vjerske menonitske zajednice. Ona (Rooney Mara) se budi i opaža krv na bedrima i plahtama. Tad kreće i naracija.

Stariji muškarci u zajednici govorili bi ženama, kad se probude u takvom stanju, da je to “djelo duhova” ili “Sotone”, ili da su “lagale da privuku pozornost”, ili da je to bio “samo čin divlje ženske mašte”. Muškarce u jednoj sceni vidimo kako, bogobojazni, kleče i mole (!), dok neke od njihovih žena žele napokon žele nešto poduzeti.

Skupina žena (Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley...), uz pomoć jed(i)nog pouzdanog muškarca zajednice (Ben Whishaw), nalazi se u jednoj pojati gdje debatira “za i protiv” razloge trebaju li “otići” li “ostati i boriti se”. Naslov filma je doslovan: žene govore i govore i govore u ovoj izrazito dijaloškoj, lokacijski skučenoj drami koja se praktički u cijelosti odvija u pojati i djeluje kao ekranizacija nekog kazališnog komada, ne romana.

Gledatelj poželi da Polley malo izvuče kameru u eksterijere, no to se baš i ne događa. Lokacijska skučenost je tu da izazove klaustrofobiju kakvu osjećaju žene u zajednici, ali mizanscena je odveć kazališna, pa i umjetna, a taj osjećaj potencira i gotovo bezbojna, beživotna vizualnost.

To stvara dojam formalnosti kakav se nije osjetio u, primjerice, “12 Angry Men”. Međutim, “Women Talking” je bolji u sadržaju, nego stilu, odnosno (povremeno repetitivnim) dijalozima na temu religije, traume, oprosta, položaja žena i ženskog osnaženja kakve izgovaraju odlične glumice.

“Ako je bog sveprisutan, zašto nije zaštitio sve žene i djevojke?”, pita se jedan ženski lik u filmu koji scenografski i kostimografski izgleda kao da se može odvijati 1910. ili 1810., ne 2010. godine, a po temi i 2020-ih. Ovo je očiti “message movie”, jedan od onih čija je društvena vrijednost veća od filmske, a važnost neupitna. Film se zanimljivo nadovezuje na “Sluškinjinu priču” u razgovoru žena koji potiče na debatu. One su (svoje) rekle. Sad je red na vama.

Miriam Toews je i sama je živjela u jednoj menonitskoj zajednici u Manitobi.

MeToo pokret imao je čak tri udarna prošlogodišnja filmska predstavnika – “She Said”, “Call Jane” i “Women Talking”. Zakon velikih brojeva nalagao je da će se barem jedan od njih, zbog velikog utjecaja pokreta, naći u utrci za Oscara. Očekivalo se da bi to mogao biti najbolji film u ovom društvu “Ona je rekla”, posebice što se tiče žena koje su istupile protiv kontroverznog producenta Harveyja Weinsteina i prokazale ga kao seksualnog zlostavljača.

Možda čak i “Nazovi Jane” s obzirom koliko je pobačaj kao tema filmski (“Nikad, rijetko, ponekad, uvijek”, “Događaj”) i društveno-politički aktualan (odjeci odluke američkog Vrhovnog suda u vezi abortusa). Jane na kraju nije nitko nazvao od članova Akademije. Ni “ona” nije rekla “Oscar”, ali žene jesu. Žene govore. “Women Talking”.

U konačnici je “Women Walking” nominiran u kategoriji najboljeg filma, a i osvojio je još jednu važnu nominaciju, onu za adaptirani scenarij.

Naime, “Women Talking” je adaptacija istoimena romana kanadske spisateljice Miriam Toews koja se, pak, za pisanje inspirirala istinitom pričom iz patrijarhalne menonitske zajednice u Boliviji između 2005. i 2009. godine.

U tom četverogodišnjem periodu bogobojazni lokalni muškarci drogirali su i silovali 150 žena. Odatle i kreće film redateljice Sarah Polley (superiorniji "Away From Her"), od jedne onesviještene i silovane žene iz vjerske menonitske zajednice. Ona (Rooney Mara) se budi i opaža krv na bedrima i plahtama. Tad kreće i naracija.

Stariji muškarci u zajednici govorili bi ženama, kad se probude u takvom stanju, da je to “djelo duhova” ili “Sotone”, ili da su “lagale da privuku pozornost”, ili da je to bio “samo čin divlje ženske mašte”. Muškarce u jednoj sceni vidimo kako, bogobojazni, kleče i mole (!), dok neke od njihovih žena žele napokon žele nešto poduzeti.

Skupina žena (Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley...), uz pomoć jed(i)nog pouzdanog muškarca zajednice (Ben Whishaw), nalazi se u jednoj pojati gdje debatira “za i protiv” razloge trebaju li “otići” li “ostati i boriti se”. Naslov filma je doslovan: žene govore i govore i govore u ovoj izrazito dijaloškoj, lokacijski skučenoj drami koja se praktički u cijelosti odvija u pojati i djeluje kao ekranizacija nekog kazališnog komada, ne romana.

Gledatelj poželi da Polley malo izvuče kameru u eksterijere, no to se baš i ne događa. Lokacijska skučenost je tu da izazove klaustrofobiju kakvu osjećaju žene u zajednici, ali mizanscena je odveć kazališna, pa i umjetna, a taj osjećaj potencira i gotovo bezbojna, beživotna vizualnost.

To stvara dojam formalnosti kakav se nije osjetio u, primjerice, “12 Angry Men”. Međutim, “Women Talking” je bolji u sadržaju, nego stilu, odnosno (povremeno repetitivnim) dijalozima na temu religije, traume, oprosta, položaja žena i ženskog osnaženja kakve izgovaraju odlične glumice.

“Ako je bog sveprisutan, zašto nije zaštitio sve žene i djevojke?”, pita se jedan ženski lik u filmu koji scenografski i kostimografski izgleda kao da se može odvijati 1910. ili 1810., ne 2010. godine, a po temi i 2020-ih. Ovo je očiti “message movie”, jedan od onih čija je društvena vrijednost veća od filmske, a važnost neupitna. Film se zanimljivo nadovezuje na “Sluškinjinu priču” u razgovoru žena koji potiče na debatu. One su (svoje) rekle. Sad je red na vama.
